Forums - Microsoft Discussion - XBOX SCORPIO YOU MUST CALL XBOX 10 S

Sorry for a non good Translate.

According to The Verge, Xbox Scorpio might call itself Xbox 10 S1767

According to speculation by Chris Plante (The Verge editor), the new Redmond console might not be called Xbox Scorpio but Xbox 10 S. Speculation is based on hidden clues in teaser published mid-week and on some personal author's considerations .

In the three video teaser published by Microsoft, it clearly reads "X10S101-317", which may indicate the name of the console (X10S / Xbox 10 S) and the release date (10/13/17, or October 13 2017). Chris Plante goes further and asserts that the console could use Windows 10 S as an operating system with the aim of spreading the Windows ecosystem to as many homes as possible and offering consumers a truly compatible Media Center obviously with games And multimedia applications of all kinds.

To be reiterated that what has been reported is only the result of the speculations of the author of The Verge, to learn more about Xbox Scorpio we will have to wait for the Microsoft E3 Conference, scheduled for Sunday, June 11 at 23:00, EU time.

So it is a dumbed down computer. I already knew that.

Exactly what I predicted earlier. Even before that video teaser became public.

If it ends up running steam.... Mother of God.

If true, this means the Scorpio would be a more competent steammachine. That could be a good strategy for the Xbox brand.

for me that numbers reads X105101-317

that supposed "S" looks much more like a 5

that would be amazing, but MS is very very unlikely to allow that

they want people to use their own ecosystems (Xbox/Windows store, Xbox Gold for online etc) - MS gets nothing from people that use Steam

Won't happen. The whole purpose of Windows 10 S is to exclude other marketplaces than the Windows store. Even if Steam or GOG or someone else tried to make a UWP App for the Windows Store, Microsoft would most likely just deny it. They want people to only buy software at their store in the long run. Windows 10 S is just the beginning, sooner or later it will be also used on other versions of Windows. Gabe Newell saw this happening long ago and he was right.

Which means no Steam on Scorpio, even if it was theretically possible. Also no GOG, no Origin, no uPlay. Just the Windows store, so you're stuck with Xbox games and UWP apps.

I believe it is. IGN blew up a decent resolution version of the picture and the S definitely looked like a 5.

Windows 10 S can only run UWP apps from the Windows App store :/

The most powerful console running the most restricted version of an unstable OS. I don't think MS sees the problem here. Remember when the Xbox 360 OS could run in 32MB's of RAM and had a great interface? Those were the days.
