Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How do you describe the Nintendo Switch to a layperson?

Just show them the reveal video.

Its like an ipad, but with better games

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

It's a Nintendo console. You can play it at home or take it with you.

A console and a handheld in one.

But easy enough to just pop out your phone and show them a 30 second commercial. Nintendo has done a good job in their marketing to showcase what the Switch is.

I just show it.

I typically remark how I use it in its tablet form equally as often on the TV.

That's one of the cool things about the Switch. Very effective free advertising. Wanna know what it does? Show it and let them try it. Seeing people play Mario Kart 8 with the two attachable controllers can be really enticing for the layperson. The only console that can play HD games both on the TV or on the go.

"A tablet that can be connected to your TV or two small controllers to play Super Mario" easy to understand and not that far from the truth.

That thing you have to buy to play Nintendo games.

This is probably the most honest one. I would add after that: and it is both handheld and console.

I mean, isn´t this the whole deal?

It´s Nintendo, but this time it is both game boy and nes in one.

Does it really matter though? I mean if you want to play Nintendo games you just have to put up with the fact that it's a handheld.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I describe it as a new Nintendo console that you play on your tv but also take with you on the go like an iPhone or iPad. Simple and effective.

I would describe it as kind of like a tablet before they became widespread. It's something that seems extraneous at first, but it is just really enjoyable to be able to change the way you play it at will.

Also, unlike a lot of previous Nintendo products, it feels really high quality, which I am really big fan of.

(Definitely needs more software though. I never wanted to be able to run Crunchyroll on something so badly.)
