Wow, Tekken kinda bombed! And just how bad is the stock situation for Switch in Japan?

Pretty bad. People are lining up just so they can enter a lottery to have a chance to get a Switch.

Tekken has been on decline for a long time. The franchise could probably benefit from a 10 year hiatus or something. Regardless I've been itching to play it.

I think Japan is just done with fighting games in general. Not the first fighter I see bombing. Japan is becoming a place where games are made for a global audience, kinda how the Canadian, French and UK industries survive not from their domestic markets but exports.

Western sales should more than make up for this, it charted at 1 in the UK, the first time for the franchise since Tekken 3. I see a lot of buzz for Tekken 7, it sold 130k on Steam alone in a week https://steamspy.com/app/389730

I hope Nintendo can get enough parts to ramp up production, Japan (among other) is really starving for Switches, and with Splatoon 2 coming out soon, they will need to deliver all they can produce by then.

The real MVP.  this games legs get stronger not weaker.  How high can it go?!

14./20. [PS4] Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege <ACT> (Ubisoft) {2015.12.10} (¥8.400) - 3.187 / 200.144 (+28%)

GTA V continuing it's March to 1 million. You'll have to add the other price versions and digital sales but it's getting there.

15./17. [PS4] Grand Theft Auto V [New Price Edition] <ACT> (Take-Two Interactive Japan) {2015.10.08} (¥4.990) - 3.092 / 342.821 (+11%)

It's been 8 years since Tekken 6 so I doubt that would even work.

23,5k Switch
21,3k PS4
167 XB1

Hmmm.... atleast PS4 is over 20k.

seems pretty damn bad for Tekken, hope the west makes up for it

Horrible, its decline is crazy. But we all knew it wouldn't do much here.

Zelda/Nier dont drop off that much. Legs and That collection game did good.

Switch HW.... :(

Gonna bomb in the west too I bet. SFV all over again.

Also, are stocks still this low? It was pushing 40k per week before, why would Ninty reduce shipments to Japan?

Let's see. It wat number 1 on the UK, first of the franchise to do it after Tekken 3.

Japanese game market is quite pathetic these days. Only the Switch has a chance of saving it, but it is mostly low budget games that are barely AA. Some quality stuff, but none of the big budget experiences. PS360 gen and the HD transition killed most Japanese studios, except the ones that could adapt to a western-like development process.

Sony Japan Studio is a prime example of that, they became inneficient and barely produce games nowadays. The only big AAA they do is GT, but they can't even release the game in a timely manner, while the western devs like Santa Monica, Guerrilla and ND are just releasing succesful games in sequence.

Tekken flop.

Is Switch still supply constrained or has demand gone low?

I believe that even MK8 was undershipped. I can understand not being able to manufacture enough consoles, since they have a lot of complex components and they have to fight against Apple to get them. But a game? Come on, it's just a cartridge (almost a Micro SD clone) inside a plastic box, they really underestimated the demand heavily.
