To be honest and fair it's the Russians and Brits we have to thank the most! The Americans only joined the party when most of the fighting was over already and afterwards and until today try to steal the cake.

The most hypocrite thing though is both Americans AND Russians supported the Nazis for years until they finally realised what happened.

Also strange to see both countries these days are getting closer to being authoritarian states themselves day by day.

Inconvenient truths, I know.

First off, half the dang world did business with Germany prior to the War breaking out.  Shoot, there wouldn't have BEEN a War if the great powers of Europe hadn't basically stood by and let it happen.  Second, the US joined almost precisely in the middle of the War.  Third, the US suffered comparable military deaths by all causes compared to the UK and France.  The only Ally who suffered significantly more casualties was Russia, who suffered them primarily because Russia forced their troops to charge ill equipped into a meat grinder.  And China, but there were a lot of other factors there.  The US did its part, we spilled our blood for nations that weren't our own.  We weren't there for the Battle of France, but we were sure as hell there for D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge, Operation Market Garden, and the fall of Germany.  And lastly, only a disrespectful prick would use the tragic and destructive events of World War II as a podium to take political pot shots, disrespecting and downplaying the heroism and sacrifice of those who gave their lives for the sake of making a cynical point.

How's that for some inconvenient truths.

GEt out with your patriotism...that's exactly one reason why it's not disrespectful to mention stuff like that on such a day. To remind all those hypocrites talking about heros and sacrifices they or their countries may not be that much better today. I wasn't talking about before the war btw...I was talking about during the war, selling masses of fuel for example. -> http://www.globalresearch.ca/secret-history-the-u-s-supported-and-inspired-the-nazis/5439236

GTFO with your patriotism...that's exactly one reason why it's not disrespectful to mention stuff like that on such day. To remind all those hypocrites they or their countries may not be that much better today. I wasn't talking about before the war btw...I was talking about during the war, selling masses of fuel for example.

I don't give a rat's ass about patriotism.  Many died on all sides and I will not abide anyone dismissing any one of the Allies' contributions to the victory.  The blood of many nations was spilt and every last dang one deserved respect for it.  I don't think my country is perfect.  I don't even like some of the figures of the US from that era, namely President FDR.  And I don't have the best opinions of parties and nations in Europe.  But I would never spit on the graves of their heroes just to take a cheap shot.

And to imply, to even remotely imply that the United States is in any way similar to Nazi Germany is so out of touch with reality it is astounding.  Take it from someone who lives here.  And no, I'm not some blind patriot who thinks our government is perfect.  I'm a realist who recognizes the difference between a flawed government and the freaking Third Reich.

Yes, most of the fighting was nearly over by early 1942. January 1942 is very close to September 1945.

What are you referring to?

The US supported the Nazis? How?

Large US banks and even George Bush's grandfather supported the Nazis. The U.S. sold fuel and lots of other stuff to Nazi Germany. Freaking Henry Ford was friends with Adolf Hitler and actually inspired him! Actually until today former Nazi families play a big role in the U.S. of A. You can't forget racism in the US was much worse in the past centuries and those ideologies even influenced the Nazis back then.

and a lot more. Here's something to read http://www.globalresearch.ca/secret-history-the-u-s-supported-and-inspired-the-nazis/5439236

just Google on the subject.

Can you provide me a timeline for this support provided to the Nazis?

Austria wasn't even its own country during WW2 Rol, but I am sure you know that and are simply trying to pull some mind games with me.

He was clearly referring to Hitler being Austrian. Sadly Austrians played big roles in both World Wars.

I do not see your point. Austria was part of Germany during this time perioid, and Hitler ruled Germany, not Austria.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Thank god Europe was liberated. Can you imagine a Europe today that would be totally under the foot of Germany? Crazy.
