ya expect thats not true.

We are 3 months out from launch and Switch is still selling out almost instantly, the same cannot be said for 3DS, Vita, Wii U or PS4.

We are three months out and stores are still only getting small allocations, look at the size of the store in OPs pictures, it was allocated 37 units, anything stocked in such low numbers after launch will sell out.

It was only a short while ago that people were queueing in Japan for the chance to be picked from a lottery to buy a Playstation vr, and that things been out a he'll of a lot longer, are you trying to say that the psvr is super popular due to it selling out instantly too?

and again thats not true, Switch has sold more than Vita, PS4 & Wii U in the same time frame while also maintaining a higher baseline so you cant brush it off as small shipments.

just face it, your original statement was incorrect.

You do realise we are talking here about long queues 3 months after launch, not about launch or shortly after launch queues!? Evre console have queues at launch or shortly after launch, but rarely some consoles have long queues few months after launch.

Nintendo itself said they undermiasted demand for Switch and they working to increase production, hopefully they will have much more stocks for Splatoon2 launch.

Yes, and the difference is simply this: the other consoles did not have anywhere near as bad production issues.

And as stated above regarding direct comparisons.

Oh look, hundreds of people lining up for the lottery chance to buy a PSVR, FOUR months after it launched.
I guess by your standards that means PSVR is also a runaway success and sony simply cannot keep up with the burning demand for the product huh?

than explain how Switch is tracking far ahead of Vita, PS4 & Wii U in the same time frame while also maintaining a far higher weekly baseline?

Your argument makes no sense.

As for PSVR, lets compare the numbers, Switch is a few weeks away from hitting 1 million, how much has PSVR sold in 4 months in Japan? is it even 100k?

Again, your argument makes no sense.

Depending on what happens in tomorrow's ND things could become a lot worse for people looking for a unit to buy.

For now, but I think Switch is really the successor to the 3DS than Japan has been waiting for; don't be surprised if they take that market from Sony.

Wait, do you mean take Japan from Sony? Nintendo already has it.

Good clarification: Switch taking Japan from PS4.

You can check stock, and the EU is the only region it's becoming consistently available in: the UK, Italy, France, Germany, and Spain, in that order. Those are also the most populous nations in Europe; you can keep track of that here: https://www.nowinstock.net/uk/videogaming/consoles/nintendoswitch/

In the US and JPN, it still sells out almost immediately (exlcuding overpriced bundles), which seems to indicate that supply still has a ways to go in catching up with demand.

All of those, besides one SKU sold by Nintendo themselves either say 'out of stock' or 'preorder', unless I'm missing something here that is not exactly the sign of healthy supply. And this is for UK, arguably EUs weakest maket for Nintendo. While the Switch might not sell out within hours like US and Japan, this shows that they indeed sell through their allocations before the next shipment arrives. It just takes a little bit longer.

You have to watch for the trends, and the "in stock" availability periods for the aforementioned regions have gotten continually longer. For instance, it's always been "in stock" somewhere, in the UK and Italy, for weeks; you can go buy one right now, at MSRP.

In the US and JPN, you can't even preorder it, which is insane.

After waiting months to get a Switch I called a local Best Buy and they told me they were getting a small shipment in on Sunday. So I went 5 minutes before the store opened at 8 am, and was in line to pick one up, and the lady in front of me bought two of them. They sold out before I could get my hands on one. I was so close! Fortunately, I bought a bundle from Gamestop that includes Mario Kart, two wheel controllers, and a charge station for a hundred dollars more. I could've went without the extra accessories but at this point I didn't care. I just wanted a system.

His argument: people are still lining up for the chance to buy it 3 months after launch which must mean it's super popular
My retort : people are still lining up for the chance to buy PSVR 4 months later, doesn't mean it's super popular.

The point: using availability to gauge popularity is fucking dumb, and Japanese habitually line up to buy things, regardless of what it is.

The PSVR reference is nothing to do with which has sold the most and everything to do with pointing out that people queuing up for something months after it's released means nothing, given that this entire thread is based on the premise that people queuing = insane demand. Clearly there is demand, however the queues exist only because supply is catestrophically low.

Simple enough for you?

I sure hope they're constraining supply this month in preparation for the next two.
