Your original comment used increasing debt as a direct example of austerity not working (specifically "With austerity our debt has gone up far more then when the wasn't austerity"). Given there were no qualifiers I felt 'linear' was an appropriate choice of wording. I understanding there are other factors (i mentioned one), but linear doesn't mean only. You implied that increasing debt is an example of proof that austerity doesn't work, and i was pointing out that we can't really draw a firm line between them. Do you disagree?

No the original post was replying to someone who brought up austerity as a means to improve the debt situation it seems like you just read one line with out looking at the whole post and what it was a response to as in my post I highlighted how Austerity didn't work when the are other factors like tax cuts for big businesses.

Maybe. It would be pretty sad though if people change their minds because of one incident.

I'd read the entire chain (i didn't start at your comment, i ended up there). My comment applies as much to bonzo, you just happened to be at the end. So to clarify: You don't believe the UK's debt increasing is proof austerity doesn't work?

To clarify I never believed it was going to work to begin with because the were a tonne of other factors and the Tories just used it as a chance to push those cuts through because that was always their intent regardless and if you're going to respond to someone else's post as well it helps to highlight that because otherwise the context becomes mixed up.

That's not really what i asked, but i guess it's as far as we'll get so thanks for clarify that much.

If the latest attack does influence the election i don't think it'll be by much. Elections focusing on defence do usually benefit the Conservatives more, but Labour also have an easy out with the police cuts. I expect both parties will make small losses and gains.

The Loony Party will win 100%! Anyone wanna bet?

The Loonys won't need to. They're holding a victory party in Islington before the counting even starts.

For a party that's never won a seat, they can actually boast some successes. Some of their proposals - deliberately outlandish for the time -  have actually become law, many years later. Lowering of the voting age to 18, legalising commercial radio stations, 24-hour alcohol licensing laws and passports for pets were all policies first raised by the Monster Raving Loony Party.

Truly a party ahead of their time...

I bet they'll drop from 229 to less than 200.

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

I am bit surprised the Tories are winning on a mostly youthful

Clearly there is a shy tory effect lol

Tories will hold and expand their majority.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).
