Forums - Sports Discussion - NBA Finals Discussion- warriors clean up in five games, win it all 129-120

Warriors are getting some payback! I'm calling it now. If the Warriors win on Wednesday, this series will end in a sweep.

It's very hard to keep up with the fast-paced style of basketball the Warriors play, ESPECIALLY when they have the firepower that they have. You have to exert twice as much energy to try and contain them, while giving yourself a chance to win. By the time the 2nd half came in the Cavs didn't have anything left in the tank. You could see it on LeBron's face along with how much he was sweating and breathing.

cavs couldnt keep up in the 2nd half because lebron was cooked. he kept driving to the basket so he ran out of energy fast especially at age 32. he should develop a post up and medium game like jordan did when he was in his 30s.

When will we see an accidental kick or elbow change the trajectory of this series? Green or Zaza to attack a Cavs player. One of the Cavs enforcers to smash one of the Warriors star players. Cheap shots in sports adds to the drama.

I agree. Especially with his height and strength, Lebron could transform his game entirely if he develops a post-up game. It would help slow the tempo down for games too, which favors the Cavs.

Golden State Warriors, I love them. Glad to see Klay doing great.

Lebron is 33.

I think the Cavs can get one at home. With their crowd behind them, their role players should be able to step up and give Lebron, Kyrie, and Love enough help to pull out a game. Though even then they may need the Warriors to play careless with the ball, like in the first half the other day. That said, I think if the Cavs are to win one, it will have to be game 3, if they don't take that, then it'll be sharks in the water, and this series really will end in 4.

So what the Cavs played one bad game. The Cavs will win the Final series in 6 matches and win the series 4-2. Lebron James is already the greatest basketball player of all time. What more does he need to do?

The case for Lebron as GOAT is a really odd one. On the one hand, my eyes tell me that he's probably the most physically gifted athlete of all time. I mean this guy is like 6'8" 250 pounds pure muscle, can jump out the building, fast, agile....he's just a monster. When he's focused, and determined, he can impose himself on the game like nobody other than maybe Shaq in his prime, there's just nothing you can do to keep him from getting where he wants on the floor. Combine that with his vision, and his willingness to always make the "right" play, finding the open man, getting everyone involved....it's special. He also goes to the finals every year, and as Richard Jeffereson said about a week ago, it's hard to imagine somebody breaking all the statistical records Lebron will have set when it's all said and done.

So, he's unquestionably one of the best to ever do it. Perhaps he's even unquestionably the most skilled to ever do it. The greatest though........?

After this year, he's most likely going to be 3-5 in the NBA Finals. That's.....not good. Worse still, he continuously, throughout his career has shown himself to be mentally susceptible to big moments. When the lights are brightest, when everyone expects the King to be the King, and take care of business, he's often missing in action. He's a pretty great underdog. When everybody is counting him out, he puts on a real show most of the time, but when he has that pressure, and everyone is like "ok Bron, take it home....." he becomes pretty damn fragile more often that not. And this is something he knows at this point in his career as well. He likes to frame himself as the underdog whenever possible, and he likes the media to frame it as such as well, because he needs that liberation of not being expected to win. Not exactly what you'd expect from the best player in the world. Certainly not what you'd expect from the greatest to ever do it.

I think the best way to sum up Lebron, that I've ever heard, is that he's the guy you want for the first 46 minutes of a game. He'll have you competitive, and put you in a position to win. Then in those last two minutes though......you want somebody else. You want a killer, an assassin, a guy who's like "ya it's time, get out of my way and I'll take this home!" That's a Jordan, Kobe, Bird, hell even Lebron's buddy Wade. Lebron, for all his talent, and all his greatness simply isn't THAT guy. He doesn't want that ball in the closing seconds with one shot to win it all. And in the end, if you don't have that, you ultimately can't be the GOAT. You just can't. We want our greatest athletes to be super heroes when it matters the most, and Lebron routinely loses his cape in those moments.

He's on his 7th in a row... Let that sink in.   Have you ever considered that he's taken teams that don't deserve to be in the Finals or otherwise wouldn't without his presence?  And he's only 32.  He feasibly could make several more finals before his career ends.

Yes he has, and he's absolutely amazing. One of the best to ever play the game without question. He's just never gonna be the GOAT, that's all.

Oh and the amount of teams he took to the finals that didn't deserve to be there, is exactly one. The first time he ever went to the finals, with that sorry ass Cavs team full of nobodies....that team had no business in the finals, and what he did to take them there was phenomenal. Every team since then though? Stacked with talent, and best in the east without question. Would have been shocking if he didn't get to the finals.

And he WILL go to several more finals before his career is over. At least 3 I'd say. And if this Golden State team stays together, guess what....he'll lose all of those too. It's completely within the realm of reason to suggest he might end his career with a 3-8 record in the NBA Finals. And let me tell you, it doesn't matter how great you are, if that's your record on the sports biggest stage....you can never ever be the GOAT. That's a fact.

Today is (in my opinion) the most important game of the series. Will the Cavs lose and put themselves in a 3-0 hole, or will they make it 2-1 to try to tie it in game 4?
The X-factor of today's game is the Cav's defense and their role players. With J.R Smith, Kyle Korver, and others struggling, it isn't surprising to see them not lighting a match. The defense must also be fixed- allowing 113 and 132 points is not the way you win the finals.
I'm predicting this game will be closer (I hope so), with Golden State winning 117-209. It will stay close overall until either KD or Curry close it in the final minutes.

Important Finals headlines:

Tyronn Lue will not make any significant changes to the lineup. J.R Smith will still stay as a starter

Viewership is the highest we have seen in a finals series since Jordan faced the Jazz in '98. Jordan's legendary series averaged 23 million viewers, while the current series is at 20 million.

1. Fixed.

I expect the Cavs to take Game 3 tomorrow. Being back home, I think, will be the spark plug and energizer they need, ESPECIALLY the bench players. JR Smith and Kyle Korver will find their shot. Tristan Thompson will crash the boards with a vengeance. Kyrie will make up for is subpar Game 2, and LeBron will be LeBron.
The Warriors cannot afford to make even half the mistakes they made in Game 2, not when playing in Cleveland. They have to take much better care of the ball, especially Steph, those 20 turnovers CANNOT happen again if they plan on winning in Cleveland. Klay has to build off his Game 2 performance as well, he finally found his shot, this would be a terrible time for him to suddenly go cold again, because the Warriors will need him, along with Steph and K.D. to be on their A game offensively for them to be able to win Game 3.

Overall, the Cavs will have to be damn near perfect and the Warriors have to be almost as sloppy as they were in Game 2 for them to have a chance in this game. But being back home I think will give them that edge they need.
