Forums - Gaming Discussion - What would make you buy a Scorpio at launch?

No, it's a waste to me. I'll wait it out and just get a ps5, we will probably start hearing about it late 2018. 1 to 2 years is easy to wait for. I'll lay the better version of multiplats there. And then wait for ps6 and so on. Xbox is irrelevant to me as long as they continue to ignore firstparty improvement and Japanese games.

If they pulled all their games from PC, maybe, but it still wouldn't be at launch. As of now, there's no exclusives there that would make me invest in that over upgrading my PC. But that's just me, personally. The box will still do fine with the console crowd, just without me though.

The 2013 panic mode mS price cuts showed what people look for during holidays. During that year the weaker xbox one which had so much negativity still sold better than PS4 by a huge amount. That should give you an idea of what's about to happen to Scorpio. Hint, The slims will be the cheapest console to play all the third parties.

Scalebound 2

Alan Wake 2.

I can't really think of anything that would make me buy it at launch, although that applies to pretty much any console ever. As far as I'm concerned there's absolutely no reason to buy any console at launch, regardless of price, launch lineup or any other factor.

What about Switch with Zelda?
Or Super Nintendo with Super mario world?
Nintendo 64 with Super mario 64?
Those are solid launch buy reasons for many people

But I agree, that typically the life of a consoles ecosystem takes off, after the launch period.

Are you referring to when the PS4 was sold out? The ps4 sold so well.. they couldn't get more in stock.

Also the xbox one cost $500 in 2013, while the ps4 cost $400.

The xbox one took a while to actually cost less than the ps4. I think it was early 2015?

Even when it did cost well it never sold better than the ps4 by a "huge amount".

Whoops, I think it was 2014 then. The one holiday where they slashed to 350 while PS4 was stuck at 400 for the most part. So despite PS4 being seen as the most powerful at the time and most popular at the time it was outsold because of a mere 50 dollar difference.  So price>power.

Nothing.

My ps4 is enough for now, i don't need Scorpio or even Switch atm.

No, no matter how good it is, a single game is never a reason for me to buy a console at launch. For many people they may be as you say, but I personally would and will never get a console at launch. It's just not worth the price of admission at that point as far as I'm concerned.

What are your most beloved games and sought after games? What if one of those came exclusively to Scorpio?

What if hypothetically Half-Life 3 came exclusively for Scorpio, or GTA6 or something similar huge?
