Yeah, its pretty embarassing and discouraging honestly.

OT: The fetishization of law enforcement is getting irritating. Transit police have no authority or training to deal with issues outside of their hired purpose of dealing with transit issues, they should absolutely not be allowed to apply force or interrogate people however they see fit. That goes for any law enforcement officer as well, how the hell does anyone think it's a good idea to have unchecked and unregulated law enforcers without proper training.

Good riddance to bad cops I say.
This guy shows up, asks questions he has no right or authority to ask and when put under pressure tasers a guy over a bus fare. Is this amateur hour?

But sure, let's give taser-man the power to conduct investigations in America's nonsensical immigration process.
I sense a pattern of putting "authority" over competence.

All police officers should be able to investigate and detain people under suspicion of being illegal immigrants. For example: If you don't speak a single word of english, and have no valid I.D. on you, you are probably an illegal immigrant.

As an Arizona resident I am getting sick of how many people have flooded over here in recent years. You can't even get a job at a fast food place, or Wal-Mart anymore unless you speak both english and spanish. These people don't just take jobs nobody wants. There are plenty of illegal immigrant cooks, grocery store butchers, security guards, and truck drivers etc over here. How do you get a job like that, while being illegal? Simple. Get a work visa and then overstay it. Your employer will be to scared of legal action to check and see if it is still valid.

I'd even argue legal immigrants suppress wages.  I work at a manufucturing plant that is filled with mainly Asians, Hispanics, Iraqis, and Blacks.  Apparently the Iraqis are the new Asians because my work loves hiring them.  They've been able to keep their starting wage at about 9.50-10.50 for the past 10+ years.  Somebody quits or they lay off a bunch of people?  No worries there are plenty of new arrivals to take their place.

You know why most Americans might not want to do the job?  Because the pay is shit.  It isn't because they can't do the work or the work is too hard.  The pay is shit.

And the same folks who won't work those jobs because the pay is crap will be the same folks fighting against raising minimum wage.

Minimum wage is another issue. Paying someone $15 per hour for unskilled labor is not the answer. Fast food jobs are not careers, they are for high school kids learning to work. The difference here is employers are taking advantage of the fact that to outsiders, $9 per hour is a fortune and they don’t have to pay benefits to illegal or work visa employees. They are saving on both fronts. An American employee who is willing to work full time at $9 per hour is forced to have insurance and now the employer is forced to provide it and pay a portion of it thanks to the idiotic Democrats. Maybe employers and employees would have it better if we stop trying to mandate benefits coverage. Benefits used to be a perk offered by employers to entice talent, now it is a burden they try and avoid at all costs.

He doesn’t have the authority to ask if the person is her illegally? Why not? He has the right to ask for ID doesn’t he? The man committed a crime by not paying for his train ride, something that ends up costing people who do pay because the fees get raised due to those losses. I guess you Democrats like that sort of thing though, you like paying more so others don’t have to pay anything. It’s not like the cop is going around asking random people to see their ID, he was detaining someone for fair evasion. Apparently the illegal doesn’t care about the law here though because he feels he is entitled to live here illegally and ride the train for free as well.

And that is why wages have been suppressed for many jobs in the USA.  Take working in a meat plant.  It used to be a decent job providing about 20 dollars a hour.  Flood in a bunch of illegals and the average wage is now ~10 dollars a hour.  Illegal immigrants suppress wages.

Some truth to this. But if they didn't come here the companies would just close the plants here and move them to the countries where these people are coming from. Both of our opinions hold truth. It's been going on for decades.

Not if we tax imports more heavily. Why do you think other countries tax our imports so much? They want to keep jobs in there own country.

I find breaking the law because you fled from a shitty, filthy, poverty stricken country filled with famine and crime to come to a place like the US to be akin to riding your bike on a sidewalk. It's just a fucking joke. If they want to work, if they want a better life for themselves or their family, let them in... let them all in. And if our government won't let them in, I hope they keep on sneaking in anyway. Fuck it.

See, I think a line needs to be drawn somewhere. We can't just keep allowing illegal immigration. However, nitpicking stories of illegals breaking laws is just dumb. There are millions of them here and a vast majority of them are hard workers who are desperately laying low because of their status. However, there are folks who'll find every instance of an illegal immigrant breaking a law to cast judgment on the lot. It's like, "See... This guy jumped a turnstile. He and the other 10 million illegals are all crooks!"

I've never been the one for broad generalizations. Especially when it's so plain to see that (even though it is a problem) this is the least of our problems. I actually see posts like this on VGChartz more than actual political websites. It's sort of confusing.

Technically they are all criminals because they are here illegally. They drive down wages and make jobs that Americans would work, jobs that Americans can’t work. Like I said in a previous post employers are not required to provide medical benefits to visa holders or illegals. Visa holders are supposed to make prevailing wage rates however illegals are not. Even at prevailing wage, the company saves money because they are not required to pay for benefits. That puts the American worker at a disadvantage because even at the same hourly rate the Visa employee costs the company less per year. In order to make the annual compensation equal the employer will need to lower the hourly wage of the American worker considerably to offset the cost of medical benefits. Now not only is the employee getting  paid considerably less per hour than the visa worker, they are also required to pay their portion of medical benefits out of the earnings they make, that lowers take home income even more. Depending on the line of work you could be looking at a $20K+ difference in take home pay per year between an American worker and a Visa worker. We arent talking about just dishwashers and farm laborers here. Illigals make up most of those jobs and essentially have the same affect for the same reason, only the companies arent required to pay them a ertain prevailing wage which means they can go even lower.

I'd rather have less if it means those people get to have more.

Menial jobs are fucked in the next 10-15 years anyway. Most of them will be automated. Even go to a McDonalds today, there's like 1/3 the staff there used to be because they just have orders handled by the touch screen displays.
