Think about it, if Capcom can do cross-play and cross-save with MHXX on 3DS and Switch, then you know Gamefreak can with Pokemon. I've read (and partook in) debates back and forth for which console Pokemon Stars would and should be on, but there is no excuse now, and nothing holding Nintendo and GF back from making it happen. Just like with MHXX, everyone wins.

The point of the Switch for Nintendo was to stop splitting the userbase of its games and to get everyone piplelined into the same ecosystem, and cross-save/play can accomplish that.

Without it, GF and Nintendo execs have to answer some hard questions about whether they potentially release a third game to an aging console that already has millions and millions of users, or the newer, more advanced console that may be hot right now, but doesn't quite have the same base, but could use the help.

With it, no prob. Then it becomes like Apple's ecosystem. Apple doesn't care whether you buy an app or game on your iPhone or your iPad, as long as you buy it from the App Store. The devices are working in tandem with each other instead of duking it out in the same house.

Pokémon on switch has gives me a hard on to thing about... I have been dreaming about a true console Pokémon for 20 years now, and I think the Switch is the format to finally get it.

I just can't seem to make a thread that puts a tingle in anyone's loins... Any other random user can open one talking about the finer points of watching paint dry and it would get to at least five pages.

Well what I'm talking about is essentially a port of a 3DS game, just like MHXX. It wouldn't be a true console Pokemon game, a la made with the Switch or a home console experience in mind. But all of this is even just assuming that a third version to Sun and Moon even comes into existence in the first place. GameFreak skipped a Z version to go along with X and Y (although there is plenty of evidence that the foundation was there), but there is much more reason for GF to go with one this time around: Nintendo has a new console to sell, one that would allow GF to do many things S/M on the 3DS flat out couldn't handle, like Triple Battles, hordes and Pokemon partners following you.

I'm excited for Stars so gen 8 can start soon after.

I have still not purchased pokemon sun and moon with hopes of star coming out on Switch with the first HD mainline pokemon game. It is time.
