This site says it's indeed 5.4 million software.

Fixed! Thanks.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

NEWS Nintendo Gains Over $2 Billion in Market Value Following Monster Hunter XX Announcemento

Then that also means the PS4 is ahead of the Wii as well?

???????

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Good news, but expected. Monster Hunter means success in Japan.

Wait, what? This report comes from Gamestop, so where does the 5.4m figure come from? That number sounds too high to be anything other than worldwide sales (hell even worldwide lifetime sales weren't believed to be this high).

Edit: oh, software. Alright then.

The numbers comes from Nintendo and are from the end of March:

https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/finance/hard_soft/index.html

(Check out the "Unit Sales" tab)

There is also a possibility to see the breakdown by regions for both sotware and hardware.

(Change the"Consolidated Hardware/Software Sales Transition" tab.)

Checked the source.

5.4m refers to the amount of software shipped in March 2017. This number only includes shipments and digital sales of games that are available as physical copies, so sales of eShop-exclusive software are excluded.

I wish they would start including digital only titles, they have to make up a pretty decent percentage of Switch software sales.

I think he means this also means that the PS4 launch was ahead of the Wii (which it was indeed).

Bad idea, that would lessen the information value of the numbers. With Nintendo's current format we have a good idea how premium software ($30-60) is doing.

Better wish for the reveal of total revenue for digital-only games. If everything got mixed together, unit sales would be greatly diminished because digital-only titles can launch at less than $5.

ya i dont mean they need to be included together, they could have them seperated, it would just be nice to know how the sales of digital only titles

Might be nice for us, but for those that like to brag it woudl be nice.

You know the pointless "phone" app/game sales where they say like 10 trilliong games have been downloaded. Or bragging about some "free" games total downloads. Completely pointless, but investors and news article people love to tout those numbers. It shows a active system I guess.

It's doing really well, so that's good

As long as great games continue without droughts, then it will do just fine
