Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch 1st Year in Japan could be one of the Strongest Lineups Ever of All Time

The issue I have with this list is that you're only expecting one major game to come out every month. It may make sense now because that's the current pattern, but surely the amount of new games is going to increase during the holiday season? I see no reason why Nintendo alone shouldn't have 2+ major titles planned for a November and December release each, unless they know Switch supply issues will be so severe that they will hurt software sales. MHXX and Mario Odyssey for example can coexist in December.

Because they are spreading titles, they don't need to overcrowd Nov/Dec... that would be cannibalism.

Mario Kart, 3D Mario & Monster Hunter launched within like 3 weeks of one another back in Nov/Dec 2011 and they didnt cannibalize each other.

Its normal to have more big games in the holiday months than other times of the year.

Like I said, they are spreading... those 3 games launched close to each other because at that point the most notable release 3DS got was Ocarina of Time 3D. So it went on 9 months without almost anything... that's the only reason it worked that well. Anyway, I bet we will get Mario Odyssey + something minor for November and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for December. That's a pretty packed holiday (Nov-Dec) first party wise, if you ask me.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

i get what you mean, 2-3 major exclusive titles for the holidays is plenty

I expect they'll be banking on Odyssey and Xenoblade sales for the holidays and will continue to space out releases with the aim of maintaining momentum in year two (assuming they still have it at that point).

This opening year is more than enough as far as console launch years go (people always seem to forget how weak launch years usually are across the consoles), no need to pile more titles into it that will be overlooked and wind up with a big software gap in 2018.

I'm not talking about just Nintendo. No one is. I don't know where you got that from.

Well, you did specifically mention Nintendo's own software plans and scheduling, so it's not exactly that hard to see "where I got that from".

"I see no reason why Nintendo alone shouldn't have 2+ major titles planned for a November and December release each"

I just see a lot of speculation and guess work here

A lot is still speculative, but so far so good

Probably will get a better idea after E3

Monster Hunter actually has a date now, it's out August 25th in Jap, it is very likely looking like the best lineup indeed for year one, took a lot to achieve from Nintendo and it seems to be working out from the sales projections.

Will change op. Also DQX though nowhere near as big as other titles comes out Sept. I still dont think dq11 will make it. If it does maybe dec release?

I'm glad the release wasn't jampacked. Now all the "no games" comments can finally disappear.

People still suggest it about the ps3 and Vita....
