Forums - Gaming Discussion - I just bought the Final Fantasy XV season pass for someone I've never met.

So I was just talking with this guy from Malaysia who randomly added me a few months back on the psn.  He apparently saw that I liked Jrpgs and thought he would just add me lol. Usually I wouldn't accept random psn friend requests but in the request he said he had just been gifted a ps4 and wanted some friends. I felt kind of sorry for him so I accepted his request :P

We then started chatting every now and then, just small talk. I would ask him if he's getting "this game and that game" he would say "noo too expensive, it would cost me a weeks pay".  I then looked at his trophy list and noticed he was only playing F2P games aside from Final Fantasy XV, which was his only purchased game (also a gift). I asked him if he was getting the season pass, he said "one day, but I'm saving up for Persona 5 atm". I started to feel sorry for him, I go out and buy what ever I want, never usually think twice about it. I decided without telling him I'd purchase some Malaysian psn credit and send it to him, when I told him he was in shock that I would do such a thing, he kept refusing saying he couldn't accept my money. After some long discussions he finally accepted it.

He would tell me about how hard it is to live in Malaysia, and how the government is screwing over the people. His English was very bad, but I understood him enough to know that life for him is very difficult compared to me.

Though to me it wasn't alot of money for me, to him it was, and I was glad I made his day.

Has anyone else done something similar?

Im poor. Whats your psn?

Yeah, I've gifted some games to certain people once I've established a friendship with them, despite never meeting them in real life or living way too far away.

Ive gifted games and whatnot to randoms hear and there but nothing much. My brother once gave a taxi driver over in Thailand 2 months pay for like 3 days of work because he did such an awesome job, to us its not a lot of cash but for them it means he can take his family on a holiday.

No, i haven't (don't like talking to strangers on psn), but i admire your gesture, very nice

ps: at least in Russia steam prices are very low, if you can't afford console games.

That's very nice of you.
I'm more in the Malaysain guys side of things then yours, so yeah, I never did it as I could barely gift myself one (PS4) 3 years after it released XD
Some years ago I actually had a friend gift some 5 bucks (brazilian bucks, so like 2 bucks, lol) on an online game we played tho, I also kept refusing it but he did anyway xP

Oh, and even as it wasn't money, SWORDF1SH gifted me some PS3 capcom codes last year as well.

I'll buy you Legend of Dragoon if it ever releases on the ps4. :P

I did something similar in Bali, hired a guy for 2 days and he only asked for the equivalent of 20 euros for two days of driving, petrol included. We gave him 100 and bought him dinner both nights.

Have I done something similar?
Well recently I did but it wasn't for a stranger, but rather an old friend I haven't seen in 10 years. We grew up together and he has always been as much of a hardcore gamer as me. But he has to budget himself a lot because he now has two children, etc.

We've still kept in touch online and he talked a lot about two games in particular. Nioh and Nier Automata.
He was very excited about those, but said he wouldn't get to play them until maybe xmas or next year due to financial reasons.
So I made a new PSN account and bought both of them (Season Pass for Nioh) and gave him the login info.

That's awesome man!

Sounds like one of those online Bromance scam.
