Never played this series before but this looks interesting. The CGI is sort of amazing as well. Especially with the Pastor, there are times where I swear it isn't CGI.
Very excited, totally down for more games about cults and militias, and Montana seems like a very cool place to explore.
Looks nice and this is again a very good setting! Imo Ubisoft is doing a great job with the Far Cry franchise!
If they make characters and not caricatures then I think I'll try the game out. From the last video, it sounds like they intend to make characters and not caricatures, so I am definitely interested.
I find the oversimplification of certain American cultures in media quite disappointing, so it will be interesting to see something nuanced (if it can be achieved.)
For an example, one would be surprised to discover that Western states were the first to give women full suffrage, and are less religious than the country overall.
Check out MT on these maps. I understand it is fiction, but I want it to be grounded in some level of reality. Hopefully it pans out.

Ubisoft could so easily have gone wrong on this one and made it a "bash Christians/conservatives/rural America simulator", but considering the makeup of the members of the resistance, I feel like they're handling this game the right way. Psyched for the release, shame the September rumor wasn't true, February is a long wait. |
They should have made the game so that you are a communist trying to advance the revolution by fighting against far-right extremists and religious cult leaders

I would argue that a cult's likelyhood to be in Montana has more to do with its vaste openness and sparse population. Cults often relocate to remote places where they can't be bothered, which seems to be implied in these trailers. They're refered to as outsiders, almost foreign corruptors.

If that is how they explain it in the game, then I will be okay with that. I personally would've chosen Oklahoma or Texas, as both have higher concentrations of religious activity and had more big-name cults in history. Most cults tend to branch off from established churches, and take from local membership. Non-Americans and urban Americans tend to have this image of all rural Americans (or anti-government Americans) as being super religious, when it certainly isn't true.

I still think Montana makes a good choice for Far Cry for its varied landscapes. I think its mountains and lakes are probably a better fit for the gameplay than flat Oklahoma and Texas. It may be a bit of a narrative stretch, but there are cults and Militia activity and history all over the place, from Oregon and California down to Guyana. Frankly it can happen absolutely anywhere.
