Right, and I think that the portability of the Switch will have a positive impact on other Monster Hunter titles.  This specific title, Monster Hunter XX, has already been released on the 3DS in Japan.  Unless there is a major feature that differentiates this version from the 3DS version, I do not believe this will sell well.

In Japan they probably cut some of the legs off of it by launching late, but in the West I think the Switch version of XX will outsell the 3DS version so it's worth porting on that basis alone.

In any case really this is more about prepping the Switch audience for the future Monster Hunter 5.

Has XX been announced for the 3DS in North America yet?  If this gets localized, I agree that a Switch version will outsell a 3DS version.  I wouldn't be surprised if they drop the 3DS version, though.

It was released in Japan on 3DS, but this is 1st MH game in HD resolution on portable device, also fact that you can play home at TV is also nice addition, same like tabletop mode, regardles 3DS version people will be hyped about this game. And we already seeing that even smaller Switch games have good sales in Japan, so there is no reason to think that 1st MH game for Switch will sell bad.

It ultimately depends on how we're defining a good number of sales.  Monster Hunter 4 on the 3DS has an attach rate of about 15% in Japan.  Even with an optimistic estimate of 2 million Switch units sold, a 15% attach rate for Monster Hunter XX would put it (for the current time) at 300000 units sold.  I think that the continued sales will be hindered by competition from the 3DS release and the potential release of Monster Hunter 5.  The fact that this is the third release of a non mainline Monster Hunster series game is significant.

Fact that will be 1st MH game on Switch, that's 1st MH game in HD resolution on portable device, also fact that you can play home at TV is also nice addition, that currently even smaller Switch games have good sales, tells us that this games will sell good compared to Switch instal base, but of course we can expect sales like we had of main MH games on 3DS but we could have similar sales with MH5.

Also have on mind that Switch is region free so probably will be released in West too.

Oh nice, looks like MH5 will be a Switch release as well then?

Most likly.

Here comes the mad dash for Switch in Japan, DQ and MH now all that is needed is Pokemon and it would have the portable trinity much like the DS and 3DS did.

This will be very succesful which means the next one will be made for Switch from the ground, great news.

Of course, that's what happened with this title, right?

Sales: 0.69 million according to VGChartz. Hardly "very successful", wouldn't you agree?

You can't really be this simple, can you? That port was released on the Wii U.

There is really no need for more explanation than that. But if you believe MHXX is gonna do the same on Switch (lol) then we can make a bet if you want.

Holly fuck yes. Finally we can play again on something else than the shitty 3DS screen and horrible controls,

The comfort of the 3DS was an issue for me as well. Most first-person or over the shoulder (really any 3D games with controllable camera) titles for the 3DS really cramped my hands badly. The cramped shoulder buttons and shallow analog "sticks" did a number on me.

LOVE the Switch!

MH5 is likely already being made from the ground up for the Switch so the performance of this is pretty irrelevant in that regard.

That may be the case, in any scenario MH5 is coming to Switch.
