Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy VII Remake Only Now "Moving Into Development Progress Phase"

I don't understand why people would be upset by this. Didn't they enjoy the trailer?

I swear half of the people here haven't read the original comment properly, or perhaps at all. I don't like repeating myself, but...

The title is blatantly incorrect. It's actually moving into development progress phase and not development phase, and that ought to make a huge difference. You can actually see the original citation in the first post.

I certainly wouldn't mind mods editing incorrect titles like this if the OP refuses to do it. Discussion based on false claims isn't very fruitful and should be discouraged very strongly, even forcefully if necessary. A large portion of posts in this thread assume the title is correct when it's clearly not.

More than half. Most people read the OP and then post. Don't bother to read the source or how the rest of the thread has gone.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Development progress phase isn't that much of a difference from the sounds of it. I mean the opposite of that would be the "development non-progress phase"? That sounds like they were in a testing phase prior to this.

They even said recently they only just completed like a running version of just the opening sequence of the game, likely what they've been doing is working on that small portion of the game with a smaller team. Now they are moving into actually bulking up the dev team for real development of the rest of the game ... which is going to take a while.

This game is not coming out anytime soon IMO.

I still have complete confidence this is releasing by Holiday 2018, with a small chance it launches this year. I do still think SE is going to release a demo and new trailer to mark the 20th Anniversary of the OG game, at the very least.

The 20th anniversary has already past. It was launched Jan 31, 1997, that is the true anniversary of the game.

I don't think this is coming out this decade, lol.

2018 is for Kingdom Hearts 3, 2019 maaaaaaaybe if they push hard, but there needs to be enough content there to justify (presumably) a $60 price point too.

I think they're totally gonna do a Final Fantasy XV-2 too (gotta milk that engine to max out profit potential), so that has to fit in there somewhere too (2018?).

They said the Midgar bombing mission is nearly complete a few months ago, and that includes voice acting. who knows how many more content they've added since then. people like to panic to fast.

If i remember majority of work for first episode is being done by cyber connect. I think this news is for development phase within SE team not related to CC

So what? This isnt some mobile app with a two year early access phase.

Hunting Season is done...

That's when it launched in Japan. It launched in Sept in NA and Nov in EU.  I would say doing it anytime this year, maybe at the next PSX, would count.  And I think they're making FF7R a priority over KH3.  That thing probably isn't launching til 2019/2020 as a cross gen game.

This is definitely going to be a PS4/PS5 title. I was just talking to somebody about how long this game is taking and how I don't want Nomura to touch Chrono Trigger. They can touch anything else but Chrono Trigger...I'd rather somebody else to remake it so I can play it within my lifetime.

I also wouldnt want Nomure to touch a possible Chrono Trigger remake/sequel, but not for that reason.Nomura is a brilliant director, but he is the action RPG guy.He has no experience in turn based systems. If he was helming it, it would mean that Chrono Trigger would go FF 7 Remake route, which would be horrible.

The delays and whatnot is Square management fault.Sure, Nomura can be a bit too perfectionist at time, but its Square fault for spreadint he man thin, and announcing games before they even begin developement.

God, you just reminded me how much I want a new and proper Chrono trigger.....

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
