Physical games on Switch basically have to be $40 it seems like. Capcom wanted a physical release, so $40 was the price it had to be.

i don't remember Nintendo mentioning that there was some baseline on physical games.

It makes some sense if true. Nintendo could want to maintain some price parity over the board so that the NS wil be seen to have a high quality/price proposition.

I love street fighter but most versions can be emulated perfectly by hardware that costs a fraction of £40 like entry level android boxes or old original xbox consoles. Even the latest entry level smart phones will do the job well. I'm trying to think how many better street fighter games I already have in my library, at least 2 dozen. Last versions I bought were on the US psn store in a sale for 60c each or something. They all seem better than this Switch version too.

If you want to get close to the original experience, soft mod an original xbox, put on console and arcade emulators with roms of all the street fighter games and attach a CRT not LCD for 0ms lag and the true experience.  How much for an original xbox £5-10 and a portable CRT probably even less money. If your feeling ambitious stick it all in a home made arcade cabinet.

I think the Switch version should have been a compilation of many of the classic street fighter games perhaps up to dreamcast releases or even later. The roms are relatively small and the later 3do, ps1, saturn and dreamcast versions could have their soundtracks heavily compressed or possibly simplified or removed if necessary or even a download option for those who want them. Just feels like zero effort has been made to make the Switch game.

I think these reviews are more like a fuck you to Capcom.

SFII is still fun albeit dated. But $40 is too much for an old game with tweaks. Especially when you consider this was essentially a $15 game on PS360.

I will likely buy this when its 20 bucks. But I doubt I will play it much.

May Capcom decide that any resulting bad sales are from bad scores and not the Switch.

Honestly I think a game like this is review proof. People who want it know what they're getting. I don't think some underwhelming scores on Metacritic are going to deter folks already willing to shell out $40 on a new version of Street Fighter II.

Well, it depends. Yes SF2 is/was great but with every new port, there's a chance that the controls may be ass or sloppy/less responsive. Because of that, I think reviews will still have an impact. Now, if it scores low because it's a 26 year old game that's priced too highly, then yeah. No one is going to care.

SF2 was $69.99 in 1992 which is well over $100.00 in today's dollars. I don't think $40.00 is too much.

The price might be a hurdle for some, but it's still cheaper than Super Bomberman R, at least...

I'll be buying it tomorrow ^^

I played this game 15 years ago on my GBA, anything this version has over that?

Uh yeah it is. It's like $2.5 on PSN sales.

Seems like the reasons are that its expensive and not much more than a SNES game. Not that the game itself is bad.
