Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 Problem

I've had my PS4 since 2015, and had no problems whatsoever. However I recently had to replace my existing TV with a new one as it was on its last legs. Since I have hooked my PS4 up to my new TV I have an intermittent problem where during play sessions it will randomly cut out to the blue screen for a few seconds before my picture returns. Straight away this points to my TV as the problem, but my Nintendo Switch works fine on it with none of this problem arising at all during multiple, lengthy play sessions. I have tried different HDMI cables but to no avail, its not a deal breaker as it is infrequent but if any tech minded people here could suggest a solution I would be very grateful.

The problem is likely something that is related very specifically to the model of your new TV. Maybe if you tell us the model number or google it, you might find people with similar problems and answers to how they have fixed it. It would also be a good idea to make sure the TV's software is up to date.

try your ps4 on another screen. if the issue comes up, you know its your PS4. if it doesnt, you know its about compatibility of your PS4 with your tv

would say the easiest thing to do to hone in the problem too would be leave the set up as it is now but take the hdmi cable from your switch and swap it to the ps4, same port and cable on the tv, see if that works, could well be a dodgy hdmi port.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

that might be a HDCP handshake problem

go to settings > system and uncheck "enable HDCP"

note that you need to enable it again to use video streaming apps and BR videos

I had a similar problem with a PS4 I bought at launch and then started having a problem a  year and a 1/2 later.  The screen would go to a pink/green static snow screen and then blue and then it would go back to display normally again.  This continued for another year and 1/2 and I used this as justification to buy a PS4 Pro, and take my old one to work to run it to the ground.  Before I bought the PRO, I tried switching inputs from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2, 3, 4, and tried different HDMI cables.  I still had problems and assumed it wasn't my projector or the Bose system since the problem didn't occur for that first year and a half.  The one I was having problems with that I took to work (connected to a small 25" tv) now works perfect.  The weird screen issue has happened once with the PRO.  It's either my EPSON projector, or my Bose system.  Probably happened after some kind of a firmware update in 2015 that caused a video conflict in one of my other devices. Both PS4's are performing perfectly.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

Are you able to return your TV and exchange it with another one? If all else fails I guess that's what you'll have to do.

This. I had the same issue and this was the cause.

Sounds like an issue with your TV!
