Well, with the full picture, it does seem pretty plausible, and could be fun so I'll just wait for the actual announcement and details first

That can't be reasonably said until we get gameplay.

That is an absolutely fair and reasonable point. In fact, this I always say and beleive, and it should be noted for everyone.

However, this is Ubisoft. I have a bias against them. A bias I let go of for over a year until this happened. Fully knowing it is unreasonable, I choose to be unreasonable. Ubisoft chose Rabbids for a Mario collab RPG. I choose unreasonable amounts disgust for a reaction.

Two big Mario games only a few months apart doesn't seem like a great idea. They may be different in terms of gameplay, but still, franchise fatigue is a thing.

I don't think you have to worry so much about something like Mario Odyssey being affected by Mario + Rabbids. Odyssey is among the most highly anticipated games of the year as it's a return to the 3D sandbox style akin to 64/Sunshine and it's a new 3D Mario, which has held high prestige in similarity with Zelda in general. I don't think Mario + Rabbids will cause fatigue for a game that is highly anticipated and has the highest YouTube views (21.5 million) among any other video uploaded by Nintendo, including Zelda BoTW's acclaimed story trailer and E3 2016 trailer.

I guess you have a point if we have more Mario games coming this year and next. And it's possible if Mario Maker Switch becomes a thing. But for now, there's two Mario games we know of right now, if we don't include Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

So has Nintendo licensed their IP property to Ubisoft? Is'nt that new?

No; Nintendo have licensed their IPs out to third parties many times before; Starfox and Pokemon to Namco, F-Zero to Sega, Mario to Squaresoft...

Pretty new for a western 3rd party though.

They let Canadian devs Next Level make the likes of Luigi's Mansion 2 and Punch Out on Wii.

I think they're 2nd party dev

They only announced they'd be working exclusively with Nintendo in 2014, they were total third party back when they made Mario Strikers and Punch Out Wii.

Ubi approach Nintendo and said we want to make crossover game of Rabbids and Mario for Switch, and Nintendo obviously was ok with that.

Obviously! But a new approach from Nintendo, they are slowly loosening up.

Yes, they could be considered for 2nd party, they are making exclusively games just for Nintendo now.

Speaking of Punch-Out, it really is crazy they never did a Punch-Out! for 3DS ... the 3D screen is actually well suited for that IP.
