Maybe MS were onto something with Live.

Still it's reached the point where each year I have to choose between PS+ or XBL, and as of next year I'll have to add Nintendo to the mix too. Shit is a punish for idorts.

Yeah, even having to pay for 1 of them is too much for me. I don't really like having to constantly pay for online.

What is the price of PS+, $50/year? Thats alot of money coming in, was a great idea to make it a paid subscription.

Aye clocks in at around $1.3b gross

Nothing to turn your nose up to right there.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Sony is making so much money with Playstation Plus! In financial terms it was a great move by them to make consumers pay for online gaming!

Someone is very defensive ... Pointing out facts really seems to trigger something.

@Frank_kc
It was obvious from the get go that the AAA games in the beginning were only a temporary thing to sell the then still new PS+ service to customers and pull as many into the service as possible, since online gaming was still free on PS3. When you are in a comfortable position such as now, alot of people continue out of habit renewing the service, despite not beeing as happy with the offered games as in the past.

I have to indeed agree with you, I only renew PS Plus to be able to play online.  In 3 + years of owning a PS4, I remeber only downloading a handfull of PS Plus games. The only games I have now on my PS4 from PS+ is Disc Jam and little big planet.

You do realise monthly active user count includes PC/360 users... so you're taking MAU for XBO/360/PC and then using a proportion given from 7 years ago to conclude XBO has 27 million gold subscribers...

yeah i didnt find the article its 2 years old. if you find it you can post it.

You do realize your sources contradict what you're saying right? There are 55 million XBox Live subsrribers. That includes Xbox One, Xbxo 360, PC, Mobile, etc. Essentially it means that not all of that 55 million Xbox Live subscribers are Xbox One subscribers. You're treating them all as if they're Xbox One owners, when they're not. They haven't even sold 55 Million Xbox Ones. Think about it!

Because of this, even assuming the "half of Xbox Live Subscribers have gold" is still true today, that means even if there are 27 Million theoretical Xbox Live Gold Subscibers, many of them are not Xbox One owners, and it's foolish to assume as much.

Considering you can live stream your gameplay to twitch and youtube record, your gameplay, party chat, download games and dlc and play online on free to play games all WITHOUT PS Plus, that's pretty damn impressive.

I wouldn't even bother listing those two.  Trying to make it sound like an awesome deal that you can access the store to purchase games without subscription? I'm just surprised less than half PS4 owners don't even care about online gaming.

I have a vague memory that you needed Gold to download demo's and games etc but that probably isn't the case so those 2 can be ignored.

All of those things you need Gold to do on Xbox which is why I mentioned.

PS Plus is literally just for those who want to play online and the free games/discounts.

Yep. Its not a huge issue for me, cuz I mostly play single player games. Also MMOs and the like typically dont require it.

Still it sucks.

Yeah, I mainly play single-player too, but for the PS3 I'd at least try out the online sometimes, because why not.

Not bad?

Your post from 2010 is essentially "50% of online 360 owners pay for gold", you then use this, in part, to assume 90% of all XBO owners pay for Gold.

Don't forget that during the 360 era you needed Gold to access streaming services like Netflix.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
