Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft Clarifies Xbox Scorpio Frame Rate/Fidelity Stance

Sony said the same thing. Microsoft is going to have to be like Sony and make the games that will make their console look good just like Sony did with the ps3 and the boatload of games coming soon exclusively to the ps4.

this is not a issue... huge advantage is over stating... so what if you can get more frames on your screen? the net code has balancing methods because of ping times since forever, whats so hard to introduce some more code lines to "help" those with lower framerate.

besides, this disparity is already happening in PC (for years now) with unlock framerates and i don't see anyone crying about it...

North korea has had a dress code enforced on every citizen ant all times for years now, is it ok for that to be applyed where you live?

not gonna even direct reply because it's not worth it...

the deal is that this is blown out of proportion because this is not a big deal... everyone has different ping times and we play fine (way bigger diffrence than the ms we see between 60FPS and 30FPS)... net code can address this "issues"...

On PC you can lower all the settings to get the highest framerate possible, which is the way to be competitive online. Plus making sure you're on a low ping server ofcourse. Or you can simply choose to play casually or not at all. On PC it's on you to get the best tools to be competitive, good HW, fast internet, low input lag monitor, wired mouse + kb. On console it will be a new thing to introduce a competitive advantage on newer HW, and you can't simply lower the settings to match it. They don't let kb+mouse play against controllers either.

So XBO gamers can be fucked if the devs choose so?

lol, this is how PC gaming has worked for years. Is it a big deal if you're playing a MP game in a mid range rig against some dude playing at 4k and an unlocked frame rate? His experience will be smoother but it doesn't give him any huge advantage. Input lag plays a bigger role than resolution or frame rate.

Also I made a thread on this already. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=228638&page=1#54

I don't expect most 3rd party games to have anything more than more stable frame rates but I'd expect Microsofts own games to take full advantage.

well, now you have that choice too to take on this so called advantage if you want it so bad and buy the better console like you can buy better HW on PC. i game on a ps4 pro with wired controller, in a low input lag monitor and optic fiber connection trough a gigabit port on my router... do i feel like i have a adavantage? i will tell you... i don't... do i have a better experience playing with smoother gameplay/framerate and better resolution... yes,  because i had that choice and i bought it.

that "advantage" is so small, all things considered that i really think this is a waste of our time. we were spending it better playing games instead of trying to blow every thing out of proportion...

i blame digital foundry for this over the top reactions...

Wow i wish gamers get over it. Go out and buy a Scorpio if your worrid about having a disadvantage.

Its like me walking into Ferrari, buying a 2013 model car and complaining that they made a faster model 4 years later haha. So not fair right?

Honestly its so stupid its not even funny. Lets hold technology back because someone cant afford a new machine.
Get a job. Just like when Sony said that if you cant afford a PS3 go get 2 jobs.

On PC I definitely felt I had the advantage in LAN games or maybe I was just better than the others :)

Ofcourse resolution and also HDR (or a well calibrated tv) are just as important to spot enemies. The fps limitations mostly comes down to the weak cpu, yet this is a nice excuse and not an entirely incorrect one. But sure, someone playing on sattelite internet with 150ms input lag tv is screwed either way.

Anyway, I'm old now, my reflexes and competitiveness have diminished, and I haven't played competitive shooters in a long time. For racing it's mostly memorizing the track which I'm still good at and 30fps or 60fps doesn't make much of a difference there. Although I must say I don't think I could do as well in Polybius at 30fps instead of 120fps. That game is fast! Replays at 30fps, can hardly tell what's going on.

If the difference is so small then why would developers even bother? Why risk pissing off some of your fanbase by giving the perception of an advantage to a smaller subset? What is the reward?

Loftis is right. Almost no one is going to do this. There is nothing to be gained.

Good news.

Scropio users are going to have more polished experiences and get 60 fps more often, that's just the way its gonna be and it already happens on PS4 Pro.

As long as OG Xbox quality doesn't go down, there isn't much to complain about.

What does the PS4 Pro does exactly the same?
Do it have Pro games running multiplayer with superior FPS targets compared to PS4 games, as in 60 vs 30 and deal with it PS4?

PS4 does a better job at maintaining 60 fps than OG PS4 in numerous titles. Thats an advantage.

It would be dumb to have 30 fps locked vs 60 fps and developers know this. I think we will have 720p and less on OG specs to avoid that if necessary. Resolution is also an advantage though!
