Forums - General Discussion - When Things Happen At The Wrong Time

Hehe, good thread

There's been so many occasions when things went bad, I like to refer such situations just "stars are aligned badly"...it feels like the stuff destiny is made of lol.

Ok, so bear with me. This next story happened like a month ago to me.

I was looking for a job, my friend gives me a number of a certain boss. I call him and we schedule a meeting, I think it was for Monday.

I go to the place, more like a "complex"...thousands of workers, countless buildings...ask directions from the security and find my way to our meeting spot. Ok, I wait...and wait...at clock 13:00 I call the first time, no answer...I continue waiting like 30 minutes and call 5 times this boss, no answer at all. Then around 14:00 I go back to the main gate and ask security about this boss and they say they haven't heard anything. At that point I'm out of options and decide to just leave and head home.

I'm home and now this boss calls me. Ok, so the thing is my friend had given me the personal phone number of this boss and that's why he didn't answer me. The boss apologizes and we are all good, it was just a mix up and there was no way I could have known about the phone number issue. We schedule another meeting for next day, 14:00 Tuesday and now I have the "job phone number" of this boss also.

Tuesday around 13:00, I'm at home getting ready to leave for our meeting, with car it takes about 30 mins to get there from where I live. My fiancee has just left with kids so I'm all alone at home. So before I leave I get this sensation that something is missing, something is not right. I check I got all the necessary papers with me, phone, cigarettes...I'm putting my shoes on and remember, did I turn off the oven, I go and check...it's off...ok so everything must good and I decide to leave...the very moment I'm closing door, the moment when I hear the door locking up, I ask myself...where are my keys? where are my car keys?

lmao...I realize I have my new coat and the keys are on the old coat which is inside the house...ok, at that point I just panic, the situation is just too fucked up...like how and why is this happening to me. I had just managed to schedule a new meeting with this boss and now second day in a row it's going to get ruined.

Ok, so I try to think rationally, the clock is 13:00 and the meeting is at 14:00. I have still time but my only option is to somehow get into the apartment. I'm thinking if I could contact my fiancee maybe she could get back in time or if I could contact the janitor to open the door. So I ring my neighbours doorbell and she opens the door, I ask if she could call the janitor but then she asks do I know the janitors phone number...well I don't since I don't have my phone...wait I do have my phone but was so panicked that didn't realize it. Ok, so we laugh about it and then I call the janitor. Janitor answers and I explain the situation and this is where I get really lucky, the janitor is working at a 1-2 minute walking distance and comes to my aid right away. Janitor comes, opens the door, I get my keys and the clock is 13:15 or so. At this point I'm so relieved and about the job...well I get the job but I sure as hell didn't tell him about my ordeals lol.

I cannot imagine toilet-free life.

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.

Not in every game, unfortunately. Try using home button in Dark Souls, for example. See how fun it is. xD

Oh my god, I did that during Bloodborne... very much regretted that...

My Friday to Saturday:
Ive modded New Vegas a few times, and it seems once a year or so I do it from the ground up. This time my computer is significantly more powerful and I have a quality 4K display. So I spent the day meticulously going through the steps. And it was PERFECT, fucking beautiful 4K 60fps, tricked the fuck out, I was happy as can be, the best mod job I had ever done and the results were the fruit of my labor.

Then BLACK SCREEN.

Thought it was the card because I could remove it then plug in a monitor via the CPU DVI and get a signal, But still black screen when I reinstalled the card. I then used the DDU utility to completely remove the drivers and reinstall, and it worked. Until I rebooted the computer and black screen again. Finally was able to isolate it to a faulty HDMI input on my fancy new TV.

When I get called, interrupted or required somewhere else during an important cutscene that I can't pause no matter what I do.

Home button should pause everything, right?

I believe so and otherwise rest mode.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I guess when I all of a sudden had to take a huge shit during exam? It was a really intolerable few hours having to hold it in!

I tell you, it's definitely not good during police job simulation test.

When you nut without noticing

Or when me and my friends were trippin on mushrooms in the middle of nowhere, and I shit myself.

Or when I use to teach snowboarding in Tahoe and my boss wanted a lifetime supply of acid. I had friends in Humboldt at the time, so he gave me a ton of mushrooms to trade for acid. So me and my roommate started eating the mushrooms on the way to Humboldt, and when were 20 minutes away from our destination got pulled over by CHP.

Or when...

I posted this several years ago but I was cheating with this hot 19 year old lady. We were supposed to go out in a date when I had a moment of clarity. I met her at a church parking lot and told her that I was going to take my daughter to see Horton Hears a Who, instead. At that precise moment, my gf's dad pulls up, looks me in the eye, and drives away.

Shit like that used to happen to me all of the time. Sometimes, so unbelievable that it felt like my life was a bad sitcom.

Alot of bad things tend to happen to me the week around around my birthday so I try be a shut-in around that time. I remember one particular birthday, I had pink eye, a bad cold (my nose kept leaking snot) and my ex-girlfriend's friend cut me with my own knife when she tried to had it back to me. I had to get stitches.

Trying to enlighten people and better their lives. Long have I suffered from that affliction. Eventually, I realized that you really can't. People are either capable or not and that capability doesn't have anything to do with another person. You can't help someone who doesn't want help on their own to begin with.
