Nothing bad about giving the consumer more options. If there are people out there willing to buy this, why not? Hell, I'm tempted myself.

That's the way people are. We had a LOT of people on these forums jump on EA for allowing you to buy a collector's edition without the game. It makes zero sense to protest options. It will be interesting to see if we run across some double standards, as well. 

I recall something like that happening. What was it? I've forgotten after what I assume to be many years.

Bizarre indeed. I suppose this saves collectors a bit of cash by just letting them have a box instead and say they still got it anyways.

I paid 10 bucks just for a Dreamcast box a few years ago. This is something for collectors. Not like Square who sold a entire collectors edition without the game.
