Forums - Gaming Discussion - Japanese games are showing Western devs HOW IT'S DONE!

Japanese games have always been good but the west is finally seeing it. Also, Japanese games aren't glitchy when they're released. That's the biggest thing western devs could learn from Japanese devs.

Thank you Playstation

I quit at the point when The Last Guardian's 10-year-development got praised.

I dismissed the whole video when they have Final Fantasy XV in the thumbnail. It is evident if you are going to make a point on development, you don't use something so incomplete, took forever, and plagued with development issues to illiustrate said point.

I'm not even going to watch the video, and I going to assume it takes fricken noise dive from things like you said right away.

Even though at least three of the great Japanese games were built after using feedback from two Western devs... CD Projekt and Bethesda...

Polish (CDP) are showing every other developer out there how it's done.

Outside of FF XV and The Last Guardians, I will agree. The japanese developers seems to have found themselves again.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Video seems a bit biased: most Japanese games they praise are sequels, most Western games they criticized are also sequels.
Nioh, a new IP, borrows from Souls games. Horizon Zero Dawn, also a new IP, borrows from other open world games. They both borrow. By the way, the two scored about equally on Metacritic but this video does not bring that up for whatever reason.

Also, how is the long development time for FF15 and The Last Guardian not valid criticisms against those two games? Ten and seven years respectively between announcement and release. That's about a tenth of a lifetime. And if memory serves, FF15 had a day-one patch! The Last Guardian was also not the most optimized game at launch either...

This. If he's using FF XV to prove that japanese developers are doing great things... He's not doing any good to them xD

Whats further annoying is I am Japanese centric gamer, but by god are development issues prevalent with many of the key developers in that region.
