Would you trust Sony enough to buy a PSP 3?

Yes, I would buy a PSP3 with confidence! 157 29.79%

Maybe, I would wait a yea... 124 23.53%

No, how they treated the ... 246 46.68%

Can't say I have much interest in it, but I wouldn't completely rule it out either. The software would be my determining factor, and it would need to have exclusives I can't get on Switch, PS4, or 3DS for it catch my attention.

Probably not. Vita and PSP were great systems but the way Sony treated the Vita in particular was abysmal and devs have started to move their games/development to PC, PS4 and Switch.

If it has good exclusives, then yeah I'll buy it. But I'm not going to just buy one in blind faith and trust of Sony. So, I'd buy it years later.

Sony handhelds, sure.

It would be harder to compete against Nintendo now. At least during the DS/3DS days, Nintendo's dev resources were largely split and Nintendo's biggest games in many cases were on the console side only.

Now Sony would have to deal with a Nintendo portable that has all their big games on it, in the past games like Splatoon and Mario Odyessy and even third party content like NBA 2K would not be on the 3DS/DS.

What if they released a device designed purely for PS4 (and PS5?) remote play? I think that would be an interesting route, a handheld peripheral of sorts. Beyond that and investing in mobile gaming controllers & games for them, I don't see Sony (or anyone other than Nintendo) doing anything like the traditional handheld ever again.

Nintendo handhelds too. Why do you think they had to combine their handheld with their console? Or release 6 revisions of the 3DS to boost sales?

Sony LITERALLY announced they were abandoning the Vita and would stop supporting it AND that the current gaming community is "not the place for a dedicated handheld"

so, no. I would not trust a company to say that after making a basically failed handheld and then attempt to do a complete 180 and try to make another one.

I don't trust them to put their 100% into it, as such it would be easy pickings for Nintendo to beat up on.

Not only that but I don't think Nintendo would allow them the luxury of having a tech advantage, they'd just make a new Switch with a better Nvidia Tegra processor, so Sony would have little/no advantage anywhere. Anything they can get, Nintendo can get from Nvidia or better.

There's only room for one handheld line in the market now and Nintendo won't give up any sales from it either because they need every single one.

If PSP 3 is coming later this year like the evidence SMD presented suggests, Nintendo can't respond in time. They will have to wait until at least 2019 to release a more powerful Switch model or else they'll piss off the early Switch adopters.

There is no mobile processor available that is that much powerful than the Switch has currently anyway. The Tegra X2 is basically bleeding edge and it's about 50% better than a Tegra X1.

You're not going to get PS4 games on the go anytime soon.

If Sony decided to do this though, Nintendo would fight them fiercely, Switch is their primary market now, they cannot afford even 15-20 million lost sales to Sony.

Im hoping to hear from it on E3... Day one "fo sho" if there is one incoming.
