Forums - Gaming Discussion - Biggest PlayStation fan wants a switch.

I agree Op, I've been on board with the switch for a while now, first time personally since GameCube (though I owned a modded Wii at one time). Nintendo has clearly returned to form in my mind and the new IP they've been investing in look rather interesting. ARMS for instance actually looks... Really really fun. We've all heard about the success story behind splatoon, I'd like to try that game out as well. And Breath of The Wild.... Plus we will get the first console grade Pokemon RPG with online built in. This is the gen (from Nintendo) we've been waiting for ladies and gentlemen.

Metroid will probably come back too. In a big way.

I thought the biggest PlayStation Fan was chad warden

I don't see a point of being loyal to one company's line of consoles, definitely get one if you really wanna play Zelda.

I mean look at me, I like Nintendo, but I am obsessed with Futaba, a character from a PlayStation game. XP

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Some of my PS and MS friends are saying the same thing after trying one out. The Switch really is a unique experience.

I'm with you OP. I have been a player for a long time ago. I was a Nintendo person during the 8-bit, SNES era, then a PS and PS2 person and recently Xbox 360-Xbox One supporter. But I have tons of games for my Xbox One mainly to the free games that come with Xbox Live but I don't even get to play those. So I'm at a point but I realize that my personal life and my wife take all of my time and the little free time I have is to maintain an active life. I think I want to sell my Xbox and just get a switch. It feels like I would still get some solid games and at least I can carry me around in the metro. I'm just waiting for them to release streaming apps like Netflix and Amazon so i can sell what I have left andmove on.

Even bigger fan than Mr. PlayStation?

I have  been with  sony since  the ps1,own more then 1500 physical  PlayStation  games.

Love japanse  games and indies.

Has a weird strong  loyalty  feeling ( with everything  not just gaming)

And tbh never really  cared  that much about  Nintendo  games.

But Lately  i have  been changing.

Instead  of spending  500-600 on games  that i dont  even  have time to play i now spend max 100 a month.

Instead  of buying  everything  at launch i look at the  games i truly  want  and  wait  for pricedrops on everything  else.

Quality  above  quantity  i guess.

Since i saw the switch my interest  was piqued, it genuinely  looks cool and the portability  is a nice  feature ( i'am  not a handheld  gamer!)

After  seeing  the new zelda i was blown away, on ps4 i would  have bought  it like crazy, and i keep thinking.

" why i'am  not playing  it then? Why keep soo loyal its not like i cant  play both?"

But i do believe  buying  a system  for a couple  of games is not  worth  it,and lets first say this yes switch is getting  the Japanese  support, but soo does  sony in a much bigger way.

But games like zelda, xenonblade, mario kart, and who knows maybe( hopefully)  also a port of bayonetta 2 is really  itching my gaming senses..

I can't  wait  what more games Nintendo  willannounce  at e3 and in the future and what japanesw exclusives  it will  get.

Edit : i also love to he fact Nintendo  puts gameplay  and performance  above  graphics.

I loveeee the  switch  boxes(psp)

And i like the idea of  cartridge.

It may not  be now,or tomorrow , but i do want a switch....i want  that zelda 0.0

I think it's always important to view the gaming companies a bit more like picking car insurance or something, which is to say always prioritize your needs over theirs, as in many ways we really are their employers. After all, it's your money, your time, and your entertainment, and the only way to influence the direction of these companies is with your wallet.

I've never really had much "loyalty" to one company or another, though I think that lack of brand loyalty seems a bit more widespread in the US than some other regions for whatever reason (example of lack of brand loyalty in US: Atari was big, then they began jumping ship to Intellivision and Colecovision, then Nintendo, then Sega won over almost half of the market, and then almost everyone jumped ship to Playstation, years later favoring the Xbox360 and Wii only to return to the PS4).

I've definitely been in the same boat. The first console I saw and played was Nintendo, but the first one I owned was the Sega Genesis and first handheld the Game Gear, followed by switching to the N64 and skipping the Saturn, after which I started branching out into all of them. Xbox360 was my last main, then jumped to PS4 for the recent gen, and now I'm totally obsessed with the Switch; basically, it seems worthwhile to follow the best package deal as opposed to getting too hooked on one company. That does not mean, however, that you have to stop loving the company that you're temporarily leaving behind... I'm personally a huge Nintendo and Blizzard fan, but that does not necessitate buying everything that comes out.

"Loyalty" is mostly bred from the inability to afford multiple systems, though that's understandable. If it's affordable, definitely branch out as each platform has plenty to offer.

Here's my take on how the Switch might suit you given what you've said and my firsthand experience over the past two+ months:

-First, I'm also not a handheld gamer but I feel I must impress upon you just how satisfying the handheld experience actually is. While I'm not as found of it for Zelda (just seems like a game meant for a bigger screen), it is incredibly and deceptively comfortable to hold and play for hours on end. Seriously, I've played Mario Kart 8D for most for most of the day without it bothering my hands like all previous handhelds did for me (3DS/PSP/Game Boy etc); the size just fits adult hands perfectly imo.

-Second, given you say you love japanese and indie titles I honestly don't think there will be a better console going forward than this one, as we've already seen most games of that variety porting over or announcing ports, especially as it has so far sold very well in Japan. Additionally, those types of games are absolutely perfect for portable mode, demanding less battery and sacrificing little in the way of visuals. Obviously Sony receives a ton of these already, but if the Switch continues to sell in Japan I think we'll see more and more coming over.

-Third, the cartridges are indeed wonderful... I absolutely love that they developed a physical game card format as opposed to a disk that works for both console and handheld mode, especially as it contains the entirety of the game within it... there's something so refreshing about putting a game in and being able to launch it immediately, as well as knowing that game will be there and available 15+ years from now. More importantly, though, it circumvents the common problem for handhelds, which is seriously limited memory. While the Switch only has 32gb of hardware space (I'd recommend factoring in however much a microSD card ~64gb or ~128gb costs in your country), I already have quite a library and have not approached the 32gb mark thanks to those game cards, and their size makes them easy to bring with you.

Ummm, based on what you said then, you'll definitely have to get the Switch eventually. I'm pretty sure you'd really enjoy it. :)

Just get one, you will not regret it.

I hope that he'll enjoy it! And that it won't be another leo-j incident.

Blind brand loyalty is stupid especially if you are gonna go as far as to not buy a game you want because its not on your prefered brand, that being said i agree that buying a console for just one game is a though decision however im hopeful that the Switch will get enough good exclusives in the long run to make up for the investment, (that japanese third party support aint enough reason for me since PS4 was and is already getting those games).

Im also seriously considering buying a Switch later on and if i do then it would be my first Nintendo system ever.

zelda is good but not on its own worth buying a switch for, id say wait a few months at least
