So the Japan Splatoon boost is serious business, but what do people expect the game to do for sales in NA and Europe?

Well, we expect Nintendo to ship more Switch units to coincide with Splatoon's launch. We probably won't see a 200% increase in the following weeks like Japan, but a 50% boost during launch week with a 10% increased baseline in the West seems doable. But that's purely a function of increased shipments. I don't know how much the game itself would be responsible.

From what I see in Japan, I guess the baseline will jump a bit more than just 10%. 20% (to ~180k) looks very possible to me, if not even more.

The game certainly pushes consoles, but just as certainly not as much as in Japan.

Switch is still sold out in the US, but becomes available in europe. Splatoon might drive demand enough so that it goes out of supply in europe again and overall Nintendo should have been stockpiling units for the launch of the game. So, with the stockpiled units the sales shold go up. Also the increased production volume should kick in.

The Switch has been losing ground compared to the Wii in recent weeks. The gap should get wider also when Brett gets around to adjusting the hardware.

It will get interesting to see if the Switch can hold up better after the Splatoon 2 Launch. The sales numbers in Japan imply at least quite some leap compared to the sales before.
