Forums - Microsoft Discussion - What did you get in Microsofts backwards compatibility sale and what do you want in the future?

I am here to praise and talk about something that Micrrosoft did (no the world is not ending). Microsofts backwards compatibility is proving to be the single most important feature of the generation for the Xbox One. I just picked up all the Dead Space Trilogy titles since I missed out on those last gen and i'll tell you....it never felt so good. I was going to pick up the Bioshock games but the remaster already exists, so i'll wait for a price cut. Microsoft really needs to add more games like....um...Metal Gear Solid revengeance and Splinter Cell: Conviction. Of course they should be dropping crackdown 1 & 2 around E3 to get people ready for the crackdown 3 launch. With that said, what did you either get from the backwards compatibility sale or want to see them make backwards compatbility?

My Xbox One is officially my backward compability and Games with gold box (free or sales). Like......  70% of my library is now purely based on what those services offer.

That's funny. That's exactly how I use it. I'm not crazy about the new games on Xbox but I do love its GWG service and backward combatability. The lineup on GWG is routinely better than the competition and I can keep all the 360 games as a bonus.

My XOne is essentially a digital Xbox 360 with a 4K Bluray player, now. I just want full and total BC so I can retire my 360 for good. Wouldn't mind BC with original Xbox games either.

Perhaps they plan to give CD1+2 as freebies for early buyers of Crackdown 3, similar to Gears of War: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/buy-gears-of-war-4-on-xbox-one-get-all-previous-ga/1100-6441372/

Then some people would complain that MS lured them before with too early BC or reduced prices for Crackdown 1 + 2.

I could agree with that, but Microsofts single player games have not been selling well. If they were smart they would release Crackdown 1&2 early enough for people to figure out what whether they want the third  game or not. I know that some people can play the third game in a trilogy without having played the past games, but releasing it before the launch would gain some steam for the franchise on its way to release with some sort of reasonable context.

Agreed. Good lord....I dont really know of any original Xbox games that i'd want. I only bought the original Xbox for superior multiplats and Halo. That was basically their selling point when going up against the PS2. For exclusives I went to anywhere but Microsoft. Most of the great games on the Xbox that I liked were from Sega and were on the dreamcast anyway. The last two splinter cell games and revengeance wouldnt be so bad. The best thing about the BC are the multiplats anyway. I mean why was the Xbox 360 so great? It was the first gen any platform had taking exclusivity away from Sony from the majority of the key third party.

Conker's Bad Fur Day Live & Reloaded.

I have the N64 version in Rare Replay, but I also want the prettier Xbox version on my XBO.

Most of the other Xbox hits I already have in a better version on other systems (Halo 1 + 2, KotOR, Jade Empire, Splinter Cell, Morrowind, Fable...) or lost importance by similar and much prettier successors (why should I play Forza Motorsport 1 again, if I can play Forza Motorsport 5 + 6... for the story?).

Yeah fable was the only other Microsoft exclusive that I played. I played kotor too. I'd say that was about it. That's one thing I can thank Microsoft for.... introducing me to PC games. I got a PC right after that and got into command and conquer, counter strike and battlefield. I played some splinter cell on PlayStation 2. I missed out on the splinter cell hype train when I was younger. I got back on the train when I got on the 360. I never played Conker when I was on the n64. Wish I did.

Metal Slug 3

Strainia(Mech shmup)

Ikaruga (shmup)

Guwange(Cave Shmup)

You think of that comparison with the Tony Hawks franchise though, the original Xbox has THPS2X/3/4 THUG and THUG2, the x360 has American Wasteland which wasn't terrible... then all those things with the plastic board and even worse were the THPSHD and THPS5 messes of games.

Would take the Original Xbox games any day of the week over the sequels.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

There are ton great deals in the sale. I've bought 7 games and only spent around $30. So far I have bought Ghostbusters, Shadow of the Damned, Monopoly, Eat Lead, Call of Juarez Gunslinger, Haunted House and Mars War Logs. I'll probably pick a couple more before the sale ends. I'm getting to play a ton of games I would never pay full price for but for a few bucks each why not.
