A black female lead for TS? I can only assume 4chan is losing their minds.

Looks meh, I've never liked ST to begin with though so I won't be going anywhere near this

Perhaps it will be good in a decade or so. I'm currently enjoying Star Trek Enterprise which I hated when it was aired. Now the quality of everything else has gone down it's not so bad anymore :p I can only stand half an hour a night of Jonathan Archer, not exactly binge watching :)

Lol. Yeah, I too didn't much care for Enterprise when it first aired, but I watched it years later when it first got added to Netflix and I realized that it was actually halfway decent, especially season 4, which was much more like the other Star Trek shows thanks to new writers and a new showrunner. It's a actually a shame that it got cancelled when it did, they had set up a really good season 5.

Yeah, season 4 of Enterprise had some really good stuff that actually felt very much like TNG era Trek.

As for Discovery - oh, dear...not only everything feels wrong, just like JJ movies, but they have Sasha from Walking Dead in one of the lead roles...and she annoyed the shit out of me with her bad acting there (not that there are many good actors in WD to start with).

Sounds good. I'm at the end of S2 and it's already getting much better. Too bad a lot of people didn't watch it until much later. I did watch Voyager when it was aired yet that got kinda meh towards the end. I guess I should watch Discovery so it doesn't get cancelled when it starts getting good!

Even though it looks far from perfect I'll watch it. Been too long since Star Trek has been on TV and this doesn't look as depressing as Enterprise (series) did, lol.

For twenty years all I've wanted is a true third generation of Star Trek and they keep avoiding actually taking the series forward. Nothing about this appeals to me, the visuals feel way off from Star Trek, especially if it is supposed to take place so close to TOS. I may catch it sometime, but no way paying CBS to watch it.

Well on the plus side if this is reasonably successful that "third gen" Trek may finally happen.

Maybe they chose this time period in their pitches because they weren't sure they'd get a huge enough budget or they likely wanted to piggyback some of the success of the JJ-verse.

Enterprise is pretty mediocre until you get to the Xindi arc (first teased in season 2's finale iirc), which imo is probably the best story arc in all of Star Trek, even if the series it's a part of is one of the weakest Trek series.

Its my favorite Star Treck series... and they shut it down after just 4 seasons.

Scott Bakula is a fantastic actor.

Is that the one that looks like star wars? or neh?
