I must say, I'm not particularly impressed. I really wanted to like Discovery, but it seems they want me not to like it. I see an over-reliance on CGI. The Klingon designs are way too weird. I see near JJ levels of lens flare. The fact that it's another prequel likely means they will create more continuity errors. I'm just not feeling it. CBS claimed this series was more for the traditional Star Trek fans than for the JJ-verse Star Trek fans, but what I'm seeing suggests the opposite. And worst of all, they want those of us in the US to pay a separate subscription fee to watch it, while the rest of the world gets it on Netflix, something most people already have a subscription to.

For that reason i want to see this flop hard, I really don't like the idea of the overpriced a la carte structure (same reason i won't buy TV episodes digitally be it Amazon or Vudu)

Edit: to give some context I have embraced digital movies I have 200+ titles on Vudu currently.  Nearly all of them though are digital copies of physical movies I have bought from walmart with a handful of titles that were disc to digital for $1 per copy.

I think it will bomb hard in the US just because of the subscription thing. It should be aired on regular tv or on netflix. It reeks of SJW being injected into it which pisses off most fandoms. Those klingons don't look anything like klingons. I always wanted to see some of the wars that happened in the Star Trek Universe but we're never shown. I'll have to see reviews on it before I'll bother with it.

That video doesn't work for me, I guess this is the same one

Doesn't look like Star Trek to me. And what's up with the Buzz Lightyear space suit design. Perhaps the characters will grow into it if it survives the first season.

Hmm, that's strange. The video in the OP is from the official Star Trek youtube channel. Is it blocked in certain countries or something? I'll add yours to the OP as well.

Well, I live in Canada like SvennoJ, and I can't access it either, so it must not be available in Canada.

I like what I'm seeing so far. It's a historical part of the prime universe with the Klingon war. Right?

And if those are Klingons, then they must be the very very old ancient ones that Worf mentioned about in DS9 episode "Homefront"

UK here and I couldn't watch the video either... other videos work fine though

Angelus is from Germany and can't either, so I guess it's only available in the US?

Horrible! It would have been better if it had Jar-Jar!
