Aquaphobia

Ironically enough though I love to swim.

My mom has that.

She loves to swim too, but really doesnt like getting her head below the water.

Guessing your not a fan of snorkling either?

I'm not afraid to under water, just get freaked out when I find my self in situation where I could potentially drown. I've never snorkled, but I have gone Scuba diving quite a few times, also use to go surfing ever summer when I was living in California.

I had experience where I got stuck under a set of floating stairs in a pool when I was kid and partially drowned. Ever since then I've had a fear of drowning. The only times I've freaked out since I had few times while surfing I tossed pretty badly by waves, disoriented, and got to point where I lost enough oxygen that I pissed myself before getting to the surface. Every time that has happened I'd go weeks without going into the water.

Dreamed there was a tornado and I couldn't find one of my little sisters. I finally found her submerged in some water. Woke up crying.

Basically, I'm not afraid of anything unusual. I have basic self preservation Instincts but, for the most part, I'm pretty fearless. I worry every day about my mom, my sisters, and my daughter.

well for me I can't say exactly. e.g. I don't really fear heights because planes and high buldings are ok. but the moment I'm in a high building and feel the wind on my skin, I feel like falling and begin to panic. same with leaning my back on the balcony or seeing how other peple do this while smoking. only thinking about it freaks me out. funny thing is when I was younger, we had a big balcony before our front door on the 4. floor and I spent there all the time with my friends, we even used our roller blades there. I think my mother almost got a heart attack every day.

Heights, thats all.

That is acrophobia.

You see the problem is that there are no clear definitive definitions of those phobias. They're all interconnected and overlapping with each other, for example aviophobia although it is mainly fear of flying, it can also be associated with other phobias such as acrophobia and claustrophobia.

I'm even fine with rollercoasters or those free fall towers because I feel safe but on a ferris wheel with some friends joking around, almost made me cry.

I have deep, deep respect for heights. Not sure if it is a phobia at this point, but I get very very nervous whenever I'm in high places on which I can see how high I am.

Trypophobia, I am traumatized by some of those images, it's worse than the goriest shit I've seen.

So, all of us are scared of at least something, so what is it for you guys? Here's some of the phobias that I have:

Acrophobia - I do have a fear of heights, and can get uncomfortable when up high, especially if I can see outside or if there's not really a barrier between where I am and the drop

Hemophobia - If I see blood in real life, especially a lot of it, I start to feel really sick and sweaty/tingly

Thanatophobia - The knowledge that I'm going to die has caused much anxiety in the past, and even now I still have some moments where it can act up again

Those are the main ones I can think of. There may be others, but I either couldn't think of them or did not consider them significant enough to list here.

What about you? What are you scared of?

Thanatophobia. So, so bad.

I'm also fearful of heights and speed.

So flying is like the perfect fear storm for me

Is there a phobia for fearing hell?

I dont fear dying, everyone is gonna die, what I fear is going to hell.

Yeah, that's the way I am with heights. Not really scared of them per se, I can ride roller coasters, go up on tall buildings, and fly, but when I'm looking off the balcony of a tall hotel for instance, this sort of painful feeling wells up deep inside me and I have to stand back away from the railing of the balcony. I guess that is still technically fear of heights, but it's not a crippling fear.

Same thing. Rollercoasters, climbing up stairs in a skyscraper, or boarding a plane? No problem at all. But a few months ago I was visiting a Spanish town which is like very old and traditional (fun place, looks like it belongs in a Game of Thrones episode), and it had one thing called the Suicidal's Peak or something like that, which is a small platform that goes outside a gigantig gorge, and you can see the whole extention of the land while actively seeing yourself standing over hundreds of meters of nothing below your feet. I was freaking trembling there; it's just such a puntual but invading fear I can't fend off even if I try. xD
