Forums - Politics Discussion - Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian foreign minister and ambassador

Well, the official did say that it would be a problem if their partner learned about this.

Better they find out now from our press than in a few weeks or months from the bullet in their informant's head.

Our press has a responsibility to report the truth and hold our government accountable, not to shield it from criticism of other nations.

The guy is an idiot elected president, but yeah lets blame the press for his weekly fuck up.

WaPo citing an anonymous source, so it is made up again. WaPo is fake news.

McMaster said, “The story that came out tonight, as reported is false... Two other senior officials who were present, including the secretary of state, remember the meeting the same way and have said so. Their on the record accounts should outweigh those of anonymous sources. And I was in the room, it didn’t happen.”"

"Our anonymous source is more reliable than their anonymous source."

Uhh, the person giving the statement is the source. He said he was in the room.

So, I wonder how many people are going to read the title and assume its truth despite statements to the contrary.

ETA: I'll be waiting to we hear more information because anonymous sources aren't always trustworthy.

The administration isn't always trustworthy either. But in this case both statements can be true. McMaster said no Intel sources or methods were discussed, but that's not what the reports alleged. He did not say that no classified info was discussed.

It hardly matters, next time Trump gives an interview he'll probably brag about discussing classified info with the Russians, and how it's within his authority to do so.

My favorite part from the article:

“If that partner learned we’d given this to Russia without their knowledge or asking first, that is a blow to that relationship,” the U.S. official said.

Good job turning to the press with the information that Trump shared classified information.

Lol. So we dont even know who the source is? Not surprised though, Washington Post will print anything bad on trump, even if its false.

Not knowing the source is kind of a given part of having reliable journalism. And what is your opinion on this if it turns out to be true?

What I really don't understand in this story is, American secret service agencies found critical information on ISIS that could probably help take them out. ISIS are a bunch of misfits and do not have anything remotely near secret agents or even normal level intelligence.

So with this important bit of information, rather than using it with allies to take out ISIS, they sat on this information instead and at some point thought hmm let's share this with Trump.

As much as I dislike Trump, this is the biggest piece of BS I've heard. Logically, it makes no sense. Historically, it makes no sense. Critical information has always been shared with allies asap to help take the enemy down through coordinated attacks.

Maybe the rumours of Baghdadi being a Mossad agent are true and that was the information that was leaked in which case allies would be pissed.

What is a US official?

Or maybe they did share it with allies but didn't consider the Russians as trustworthy allies to also share it with them? I wouldn't trust a country that's shielding Syrian dictators and annexes neighbors.

Come here in the Philippines ^^ It's much greater than before now ^.^ Corrupts are already being extinguished that's why corrupts are seeking help from Medias and UN just to prevent our President to Capture them :D

Our press has a responsibility to report the truth and hold our government accountable, not to shield it from criticism of other nations.

Firstly, the funny part is not the press reporting this, it's an official coming forward to share what happened behind closed doors.

Secondly, your mainstream press is not proper journalism. Your mainstream press is openly biased and reports stories from such an angle. What this means is that the press holds the government accountable when the government consists of the opposing party, but will shield the government if it's the own party.

There are many levels of wrong in this statement.
