Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Smartphone The Legend of Zelda game coming after Animal Crossing. New Pokemon app in development?

A Pokemon Card game on mobile could blow away what PGO achieved, I remember the card game from the last 90s/early 00s it was insane how popular they were and how much they made off them.

As long as they dont overprice it like with super mario run, I will look forward to it

I don't think Mario Run is overpriced. Think how much it would cost as a download game on 3Ds or Switch. 10$ seems like a good guess. Why should it be cheaper, only because it releases on phones instead?

Yes it is. For mobile, anything over $5 is pricey.

Zelda Maker 👀

Probably just a Top down Zelda (Zelda I, ALttP) with a few dungeons and small overworld. Maybe a procedurally generated, infinite dungeon? Well, randomly generated rooms, not really a "dungeon" per se.

Oh, that would work ! The Binding of Isaac is basically that, they must have leaderboards for who gets the most rupees and stuff though...

Yes because the market itself is different and the primary purpose of super mario run is to be a form of an advertisement to attract more people to their devices and content. In both iOS and Android, Super Mario Run is rated less than 4 stars and the biggest complaint is its price. According to Nintendo, it also didn't meet their expectations. And if we are looking at a level prespective, the super mario run levels are relatively short compared to levels on mario games on 3ds and far less interactive since the game almost plays itself.

So yes, it should have been priced way lower. As an advertisement, it had major complaints about the price and value and is rated lower than what quality games are usually rated on mobile. As a revenue generator, it did not meet Nintendo's expectations and as far as content goes, it is less than what Mario games typically give you even by per level bases. Nintendo missed the mark and I hope they learn from it.

It's not terribly hard to envision

I'm pretty sure they could make that playstyle work without a stylus.

I'm curious to see how they would make a Zelda mobile game even work. It'd be cool to see, though really I don't need anymore phone games... I'm full with Heroes, Miitomo and PoGo already...

I want it.

I think they'll probably use the Link Between Worlds engine/assets for the Zelda game.

But with gameplay similar to Spirit Tracks/Phantom Hourglass (touch only) and smaller dungeons/worlds.

These games would be impossible to play without a regular control scheme. The controls are too precise.
