5 mil is definitely possible with a 3DS and switch version out there. The 3DS will sell the most!

I'd say it's highly possible since it's coming out on 3 different platforms.

I feel like the are consistently throwing out unrealistic numbers. At this point I wonder if it's just the companies way of trolling us.

Well 9 had the around 150m install base of the DS. And 8 had the around 150m install base of the PS2. |
DQ 8 launched well before PS2 was at 150m sold, and when DQ 9 launched in the West it had an installbase of 129m, the year before at it's Japan launch it had an installbase of 105m.
So yeah PS4+3DS+Switch with a current installbase of over 130m have a higher installbase then DS/PS2 did when they recieved DQ 8/9.
5 million should be feasible. Sales in Japan alone should reach at least 3.5 to 4 million units, and the series has been gaining popularity in the west as well.
I'll buy 12.

Shouldn't it do that easily in Japan? I guess 3DS: 3.5M, PS4: 1.5M, Switch 1M
Then Western sales: 3DS: 0.5M, PS4: 1.5M, Switch 0.5-1M
Pretty clear that he´s talking about sales in the current fiscal year. In such fiscal year briefings, companies always tell to their investors projections for the next fiscal year, in this case the one that started just recently.
We still don´t know important information, like what the Switch version is like and it´s launch date. Or if any DQ11 will launch outside Japan in the current fiscal year.
(JAPAN) Right now, I think that the 3DS and PS4s best case scenario is, that combined they´ll come close to DQ9 sales, which in my book isn´t a great result for in essence two games. Actually a decline in sales (DQ11 3DS+PS4 compared to DQ9 on DS) is quite likely.
Sales potential of Switch version is really cut short due to complete exclusion of new information and media blackout so far and late launch, with a likely lazy low-key marketing campaign in comparison.
