Microsoft creating a Massive Mixed Reality Multi-Player Online game for Xbox and PC

A job post has revealed that Microsoft is working on their own Mixed Reality game for the PC and Xbox.

The title will presumably support their new range of Mixed Reality headsets from the likes of Acer and HP, and according to the job post will be a large multi-player game which we assume will support cross-platform play.

The job post, for a senior design manager, reads:

Do you love MMOs? Are you excited about Virtual Reality? Would you like every Xbox user to experience your design every time they use it? We are embarking on a bold charter and need your help us take the next step. The Xbox Mixed Reality team is looking for an experienced senior design manager with deep expertise and passion around crafting immersive social systems and experiences. We’re looking to build a massively social gaming and entertainment experience for both the PC and the console. Here is an opportunity to join a fun and collaborative team that experiments with the latest toys, works with state of the art tech, and crafts the future of entertainment.

If it is a game it would we should presumably not expect it to arrive anytime soon, but it is clear Microsoft is being somewhat ambitious regarding this new technology on their platforms.

I gotta say, this sounds amazing. But it all comes down to how it is executed. It'll be kinda like SAO...I hope?

A well made VR MMO could be huge.

Lol Microsoft's lies and 180s continue to stack up.

After they announced Hololens Phil Spencer said he wasn't a fan of VR or everyone wearing a VR headset. Last year Microsoft also said they weren't going to be making any VR games and Xbox Scorpio wouldn't have any exclusive games because they don't consider VR games as "games". Then they start working on a VR MMO?

Then a couple months ago Phil Spencer said he wasn't a fan of VR exclusivity and doesn't think forcing a customer to pick a headset winner is healthy for VR to take off. So why did Microsoft partner with a bunch of hardware companies to make a proprietary headset that only works on Microsoft's platform? And why are they working on this game?

In 2015 Phil Spencer said he didn't think VR was a now thing which is funny because that is about the same time Microsoft started partnering with other companies to make a PSVR ripoff after announcing Hololens. Ever since PSVR was announced in 2013, and Oculus and HTC Vive were announced Microsoft has been downplaying VR.

If this game is tied to these 3rd party headsets, you can count me out.

Anyway a job post for a team lead, this is some time away from becoming something.

It could be a MMO that has support for VR but doesn't require it but uses it to enhance the experience, which is what I expect since they are talking about "every xbox owner" and not just scorpio, which has exclusivity in form of VR

Are MMOs that popular nowadays? If it's going to need an add-on due to that mixed-reality thing, it's going to severely limit the userbase, even if it includes XBOne and PC users.
