Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 Hardware Sales 2015 vs 2016 vs 2017: New Years numbers posted. 2017 ends at 20.2 million

Would you be interested in a 2017 vs. 2018 comparison?

Yes 475 69.24%

No 81 11.81%

Total:556

With Sony themselves saying that this past Black Friday was the best one in PlayStation history, I'm beginning to suspect that 2017 will finish around the 21-22 million range. Extremely impressive, indeed!
Perhaps even more impressive is the potential of 2018 with the strong 1st party lineup Sony has put together for that year thus far. Between God of War 4, Spider-Man, Detroit, and Monster Hunter, I believe we'll see another 20 million. And that's without the price cut.

3M over YOY, that is crazy... let's pray to see an over 20M year for PS4, with BF crazyness this doesn't seem impossible.

Not to be a party pooper here, but that may not be the case.

Yes te PS4 total sales were adjusted up by 1M.... but doesn't that only count to 2017 if the previous numbers were only undertracking 2017?

What of if some of that 1M is shared over the last two years too.

I would assume that the numbers for 2016 have already been adjusted given that Sony releases sold-through numbers in January.

From what I remember VGC have recalculated the number everytime Sony released it. So it should have 2016 ok.

20M is sounding rather plausible for the PS4 this year!!

We've got official figures to compare now!

2016: January 3rd to December 6th - 14.1m

2017: January 1st to December 3rd - 17.2m

Absolutely killing it.

i dont think even Sony thought the PS4 would be so successful when it launched. So many articles about consoles are dead.... looks damn good to me.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=233392 crossed 70M (70.6M) and PSVR crossed 2M.

66 million as of Oct. 28th according to VGC
70.6 million as of Dec. 3rd according to Sony themselves.

5 weeks to get 4.6 million.

Why do I get the feeling that I'll have to make adjustments AGAIN?

I'm so happy that Playstation 4 is doing so well this GEN.

Hope VGChartz update the current PS4 numbers ASAP.

PS4 sales top 70.6 million units worldwide (before christmas), and that's oficial.
