Agreed. Although I think we're still at least 3 years off from PS5. So, this system still has PLENTY of life left I'd imagine.

I think this year will at least match last year's. We got a lot of big releases still, including RDR2 and Battlefront 2. We'll also have a $199 PS4 this holiday season and a $349 Pro (possibly $299.) I think next year is when we'll start to see declines as we get closer to the PS5.

Next year (2018) will probably be similar to 2017 but if GTA 6 releases in 2019 that year will be massive and the GTA effect would roll on into 2020 when the ps5 probably launches.  That title could honestly sell something like 20m on ps4 alone week 1. It will be a massive hardware seller and remember ps4 pro will probably be $249 or $199 by then and the ps4 super slim will probably be $149.

If the patterns for Japanese sales are true everywhere else, than there's a chance that it could.

I still think this year is the "peak" in terms of units sold.

199$ PS4 during black friday + holidays & 349$ PS4pro.

Games:
PS4 : Spiderman, God of War, GT Sports, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Days Gone, Detroit: Become Human, Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Multiplats:  Red Redemption 2, Destiny 2, CoD WW2, Battlefront 2, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, Kingdom Hearts 3?

PS4 sales will grow exponentially with no end in sight. 150 million ltd sales looks obtainable.

This needs to get onto my buddy!

I fear the PS4 might drop too much during Spring and Summer to recover during the holidays and beat the previous years. But we'll see, maybe I'm wrong

Didn't PS4 sell: 4, 16, 17 and 20M respectivelly? Up until 2016.

maybe for shipments but here are the yearly totals based on Sony PR statements.

2013-4.2 million

2014-14.3 million/18.5m LTD

2015-17.4 million/35.9m LTD

2016-17.5 million/53.4m LTD

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Let me tag this so I can have it to keep track of! This year will be close...and depending on what comes out of E3 it could well indeed be a peak year! I for some reason think we will see more GOW 4 and get a release date of this year....couple that with some great holiday deals....marketing rights to the biggest 3rd party games and this year could indeed be the peak year.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...
