Forums - Nintendo Discussion - EA CEO excited about Switch, Looking To Bring More Games To The System

EA’s departure from the Wii U fold signalled and portended a larger exodus of third parties from the Nintendo camp- something from which the Wii U never quite recovered. It is why the prospect of EA actually being on board with the Switch was a little encouraging for the system’s prospects before its launch, when its fate in the market was uncertain.

Of course, its fate is not uncertain anymore- the Switch is out and it is a raging success, and it looks like EA is now more willing to commit to the system fully. Thus far, EA had only announced one game for the system, FIFA 18. However, speaking to investors in a financial call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson noted that the company is now very bullish on the Nintendo Switch, expressing excitement for it bringing an entirely new ecosystem into the fold. He noted that EA is considering bringing more of its games to the system, in addition to the previously announced FIFA 18. He also reiterated EA’s relationship with Nintendo.

What games EA could bring to the Switch remains unknown- maybe we will find out more at E3 next month.

Well this is unprecedented.

Please be better quality than NBA Playgrounds.

I can see in Merica' alone how well Madden would work on the switch. Honestly what excites me about my switch is the RPG and JRPG focus which is seemingly being built for it. EA should take note of that and bring some western rpg's to the Nintendo audience.

Also is it so much to ask for a legitimate NBA JAM successor?

That's great the more 3rd parties on board the better :D I'm not a madden player but my little brother wants madden portable again, we used to play madden 09 together on the ds through ds download play. I can't see it getting the shooters like battlefield or battlefront though.

Anyway, it's not like anyone cares..? They've been turning most potentially good games into crap lately.

Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1 are actually quite good.  And Star Wars Battlefront 2 is looking very promising.  EA has actually kept their usual BS to a minimum.  Not that I expect it to last.

What's revealing is that EA had prett modest entusiasm pre launch but now that the Switch is selling out, suddenly they're a lot more enthusiastic.  Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I'm mostly going off Andromeda here. Pretty amazing how they managed to ruin BioWare.

...but yeah, I said "most", not "all". I know there are some outliars.

I would say that for the last several games, the BS has been the outliars, miraculously.

And from what I understand, the latest ME game was made by a B team of sorts, not the main BioWare people know.  Which yes, EA is responsible for allowing them to take the lead but I for one do not just absolve devs of responsibility by default because EA is their publisher.  From what we have heard, some of the damaging decisions behind ME:A originated at a developer level where publishers frankly don't care to specify things.

Honestly, for now, EA seems to be mostly behaving themselves.  Mostly.

I'll believe it when I see it. Not that I care that much about their games anyways, the ones I enjoyed have been ruined for a while now =P

I know it may be too early to make a statement like this but you'd be insane not to support Switch at this point from a game developers perspective. The thing is brimming with potential.

Horrifying.

Normally I'm not interested in EA games on Nintendo consoles. For the first time though I'm really interested in FIFA 18 on switch. Taking a console experience fifa game on the go is so appealing. I hope EA doesn't butcher this release like they normally do on Nintendo consoles.

Think for yourself, question authority
