Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Mario Kart 9.. wishes

We all are loving mario kart 8 deluxe but as i continue to play..there are a lot of things that i would like to see different or better if we get a mario kart 9. What are some changes or updates you would love to see for the next mario kart

- No "Deluxe" version of MK9. As there shouldn't have been a MK8 Deluxe, but instead a new MK9. Since "we are all loving" a game that came out 3 years ago.

- No baby or metal version of pre-existing characters - or at least not as many (Baby Rosalina feels terribly unnecesary) I'd rather have new different characters.

Aaaaand thats it really, I loved MK8 so If MK9 comes close to its quality im all good.

Honestly, I don't know what I'd change. The tracks are the best in the series, the battle maps and modes are the best in the series, the anti-gravity mechanics are great, the music is outstanding. There are five speed options; dozens of vehicle customization options; 48 tracks; five battle modes; local, online, and wireless play; etc.

Maybe replace a few characters and/or items here and there? Maybe bring back Missions mode from Mario Kart DS? Include Block Fort from Mario Kart 64?

After MK8D, only thing that could overshadow is Nintendo Cart, so MK cart but on bigger scale with all Nintendo IPs in it. Just imagine, Metroid or Pikmin Cup.

Honestly the only big thing that's missing for me is better unlocks. MK7 and 8 both made unlocking stuff way too easy (Collect coins/Win races --> Get stuff). I remember playing Mario Kart Wii and having a hard time beating time trials to unlock characters, but when I did beat them it was really satisfying and made me use the characters I unlocked more frequently because of that. The rest is fine, MK8 is already a perfect Mario Kart game otherwise.

Edit: Improve the roster a little bit too, stuff like Pink Gold Peach should be replaced with better characters.

Edit 2: Mission Mode would be a great addition too, it was pretty fun on the DS. Not a dealbreaker though, just a nice extra thing to have.

We still need a baby Yoshi one :)

That's basically already happening, so I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo goes bigger with its IP inclusions with MK9.

OT: All I wish for is for it to be harder. MK8 was incredibly easy and took no time to complete the Grand Prix, it was quite boring in the regard.

I actually don't mind the Deluxe version, as it means that I don't have to buy DLC.

I'm usually not a fan of all the baby characters, but the idea of a baby Yoshi burning up the track is too adorable to miss

Yes part of it, but Nintendo Kart would be even more Nintendo Kart and even less Mario Kart, imagine, Zelda Cup, Metroid Cup, Pikmin Cup, Animal Crossing Cup, Splatoon Cup, Donkey Kong Cup, Mario Cup...with courses that will be themed from those games.
