Simple question: did it?

We have official numbers for US: 459k for the first day only! Media Create just published their figures and they have it at 284k in Japan. That's 743k between two territories. So that leaves only Europe and RoW to be found.

Analyzing sales for Breath of the Wild, the game did almost 2x better in Europe than in Japan. Keep in mind that Mario Kart is a global success and tend to sell more on Europe than in Japan.

So if we have to be very pessimistic about Europe, let's say it did just about the same as it did in Japan... we would have a total of 1.02m, without taking RoW into account (and being very pessimistic). 

Going through that, I think it's fair to say the game sold over 1m FW, maybe even first day. What do you guys think?

That's great! I wonder how much it will sell first month now.

Given Amazon basically listed that game as not being in stock for a couple weeks at the time I won't be surprised if there's more digital downloads than might be expected. I certainly would not have wanted to wait nearly two weeks :p

No, but I figure it's the preferred method for a lot of people (especially if you have prime membership) and amazon is a pretty good gauge of how well products are selling.

With almost half a million in just the US, it was pretty hard for it not to happen.

The only one that has yet to confirm the million is Nintendo themselves, otherwise this was a given. Is the next heavy hitter on the system Minecraft? Let's see how fast it sells.
