xbox needs more than a "good/cool guy" so far he fixed the PR mess, but nothing else. I think Scorpio and xbox game pass are his final test.

I think people have unrealistically high expectations for Scropio. If it can simply keep X1 sales steady, I'd call that a success.

My logic is it could achieve 360's userbase long term if sales simply can sell 7-8 million units a year. X1 is already viable platform and that won't change with the userbase growing.

I hope so.
He did a good job with the PC and the retrocompatibility.
But his work on first party games has been awful.
If he doesn't prove that he can do better in that domain. Then he should leave.

Hmm. I think if scorpio doesn't turn things around, I wouldn't be surprised if he steps down. He's doing better than the last guy but that's not good enough in all honesty. Offering xbox exclusives on windows 10, closing studios, still focusing on the us too much, not getting Japanese games, not producing enough 1st party games are all dumb ideas.

If Microsoft does not produce at least one hot new IP this gen that they can define their brand with, they are in serious trouble. This is Sonys third year...and we all know what that means. Almost all of their developers are ready with something new. This is the same year Sony started closing the gap with the 360 because of exclusives. Now imagine what will happen when they are in the lead. They will pull alway from Microsoft, even further.

Considering X1 has like half the userbase of PS4, several of their exclusives do pretty well. But not every exclusive will be a hit.

Sony themselves said most exclusives won't make money but you support them anyway, obviously because consoles need exclusives content.

I don't think it really matters how far ahead PS4 gets per se, the biggest priority for Xbox should be keeping their userbase viable. A large userbase worth bringing games too. Getting the huge 3rd party exclusives on a regular basis is what helps both Xbox and Playstation thrive.

I don't attribute PS4's success to "hot new IPs." Because a lot of its popular games are sequels and many of PS4's best selling games are also on X1.

The Xbox One sold faster than the 360 and were on the third year now. Thats the same year Halo 3 came out. No excuses. The fanbase has spoken. Single player experiences are not where its at ( whether the quality is good or bad is subjective). Spencer said it himself. Nintendo and Sony have those games tailored for their fanbase. I hope they have some great mulitplayer experiences ready then. Microsoft only needs one though. Seriously....the standards for Xbox have never really been that high.

I'm not sure what you're saying...

Sometimes when you argue you don't elaborate your points and its just a jumble of words.

Are you saying X1 needs more exclusives? Does it need multiplayer games? Are cinematic experiences what Sony fans want?

I still give the edge to X1 in 1st party exclusives, but they do different things in regard to gameplay.

Cinematic experiences. LOL....you Know very well that Sony games have plenty of gameplay. That line is old and has been proven wrong long ago.

I agree with ya. MS needs new IPs (especially a few big ones) to create more hype for the brand.

Truth and we as fans win in the end becaue well..more games for us. I want Microsoft to succeed. Spencer is great, but the Xbox Division is a hard ship to steer when you have competition like Sony and Nintendo.

Phils latest comments about single player games lacking impact (on sales) erked me.

He seems to believe in "games as a service", and everything being a competitive online multiplayer game, with micro transactions & DLC, is the right way to go (for them as developers).

I think that just means he ends up competeing against the 3rd party big IP's out there, that specialise in makeing online multiplayers. Which is a loseing battle, and worse it means your console might end up lacking big single player game titles.

this "multiplayer only" focus will hurt them down the line.

He wants to do away with single player games so either he or Xbox may not last much longer. This kind of thinking killed Phantom Dust and Scalebound. meanwhile the highest rated games this year and best selling are single player games. He needs to rethink his stance.

Yep. His PR and putting foot in mouth moments, the flip flopping ect... the worse is his comment about that Single player stuff.
