Not sure if telegram works the same way.

Telegram works the same way. Prefer Telegram over Whatsapp, because it has a native PC client.

I must be one of the few who used Hangouts due to its PC client, way before Whatsapp even thought about it.

Just read a bit on telegram and they do offer both: username and telephone contacts, so it could be doable, not sure why we would need IM, calling, etc... although I leave it all to you Shikamo

Sure Miiverse was sorta a cool thing to have, but it's not something I care not having. I only ever used it in Splatoon to post drawings which is something you can only do well on a resistive touch screen and stylus which the Switch doesn't feature anyways, so really I don't care whether Miiverse exists or not.
