PS4 won't be denied the #1 spot.
I know the Switch is supply constraint and will take March easy so good job Nintendo there! But I have to give it to the PS4 these continued sales about 200k are quite impressive IMO. Sony really did/is doing a great job with the PS4.
Also glad to see the XB1 about 100k again!

I wouldn't imagine there to be ~2 million copies of SW on store shelves. Yes, digital was fairly high, but not that high.

You are comparing the Switch to the Wii U, I wouldn't go that far. Wii figures may be more useful, or 3DS as it released in the same time of year as the Switch.

Why put the quotations on drought? if Nintendon't manufacture enough Switch units, that's exactly what it is - whether one thinks its strategic (intentional) or not. I was one that preordered Zelda (w/pro controller) back in Feb, but did not secure Switch in time. Since then, could not get my system either online or in store, until last week at the end of April when retailers loaded up stock for MK8 deluxe's release. The drought is real...

I meant it more as a lack of a better term, i should have just put that in parentheses.

Wouldn't that be shipped rather than sold though? Would make sense there would still be a lot of games in stores. Looking at the Wii U, VGC has 4.5m software shipped by the end of Dec 2012, while Nintendo's reported software figure is 11.6m https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2013/130130e.pdf Either that's got to be shipped and having a few million games on shelves still is fairly normal, or the Wii U had absolutely insane digital sales! Or that's undertracked too I guess, but VGC is usually better at historical stuff right? |
Oh of course, but the fact that BotW by itself is almost at VGC totals for all software is too much of a discrepancy. It makes sense for a lot of software to be on shelves, but BotW had an enormouse attach rate.
And we are giving Switch digital downloads too much credit. There's only 25 GB (7 GB of the 32 are used by the OS) of storage per Switch, which is less than 2 copies of BotW (without updates).
Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Ps4 back on top already. Pleasantly surprised by that.
Next week's software also up now too. MLB ps4 showing massive growth. Ps4 closing in on 400m software at retail too. Should hit it over the summer.
Excellent PS4 and NS, decent XBOne, 3DS almost decent thanks to the latest MH launch.
PS: Zelda currently at ~9:10 attach rate on NS, Ninty surpassed itself with that game.
