Forums - Gaming Discussion - When are they going to update the consoles graphic on the home page?

You have to take the Wii U from the chart and put the Nintendo Switch

Prediction: Nintendo Switch sells 100 million until the end of 2021

This definitely needs to be done, and I think they know that, but like everything else on the site they are extremely slow to update things. Just look at the hardware charts... March 18? lol

My prediction is August 2018.

Before Half-Life 3 comes out at least.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Forgive my saying so, but that would require an awful lot of actual effort.

Generation-ally speaking the WiiU was the first of the Eight gen followed by the PS4 and X1, it has to be said that the Switch is a generation of Nintendo machine ahead of the WiiU as such.. is it the first Ninth Gen machine?

As for the OP I don't think you could as easily slot the Switch into the Current gen alongside the WiiU/PS4/X1 and if you want to remove the WiiU from that graphic you are suggesting overwriting the mistake that the WiiU was as Nintendos Eight gen console and replace their horse this gen with the Switch?

It's an interesting conundrum because the graphic is for 8th gen systems, and Switch is technically a 9th gen system. Will they add a 9th gen option to the drop down menu, or will they just lump Switch in with the 8th gen systems?

Well, I'm not sure if we can even go by generations any more with all of these mid-gen upgrades.

They should replace the Wii U with it. I don't see Switch as a 9th gen device, since it launched too early. There are several cases of companies releasing two consoles in a single gen:
- Gen 2: Atari launched the 2600 and 5200.
- Gen 3: Sega launched the SG-1000 and the Master System.
- Gen 5: Nintendo itself launched the Virtual Boy and the Game Boy Color, both handhelds.

So, having two consoles in a single gen is not a new stuff. If it was launched towards the end of the gen, we could consider it like an early console (Dreamcast). Also notice that the DC was only 1.5 years early and was a big jump over PS1/N64. Switch would be almost 3 years early and is not an upgrade even over base X1.

For me Switch is a 8th gen machine. Wii U sold badly, Nintendo simply cancelled it after launch and replaced with the Switch (similar to what Sega did with the SG-1000).

As both PS4 and X1 models run the exact same games (full foward and backwards compatibility), they are the same gen. Switch could be debatable, but these two aren't. Nobody considered the DSi a new gen and it was an upgrade.

Well, techniacally Switch is the very 1st generation of hybrid consoles. Personally I think they should palce NS bar between PS4 and 3DS.
