The Wii will remain supreme.

Just want to add that 2 of Nintendo's 4 handhelds have broken 100 million units sold- The original Gameboy and the DS. The worst selling handheld was the 3DS which is still over 60 million. 100 million sales for a Nintendo handheld is not unrealistic.

Funny how the worst selling handheld for Nintendo got 65 million, and Sony's worst selling console got 80m. Shows how dominant they can be, even at their worst

Actually, that is the Vita. System only sold 20 million or so. People forget how much Nintendo has dominated handhelds. Despite releasing its worse system it kicks its rival out of the market.

I think it is best to wait until the Switch has been on the market for at least one year. This will help to analyse whether it has a lasting appeal, good software sales etc. We will also have better knowledge in regards to third party support for the system.

It is too early to predict such a thing in my opinion. However, it will sell more than the Wii U, easily.

If the Switch does hardware integrations similar to the PS4 and X1 to maintain BC, I can see it doing more than the Wii.

If not, I predict somewhere between 80-100 mil. Beating the 3DS, but staying behind Wii. This of course is also dependant on if Nintendo phases out the 3DS next year and makes the Switch their main focus for handheld and console experiences.

If not then I predict around 60 mil.

So all in all, it is way to early to guess anything at this point. Way to many factors we need to analyze first.

I agree, it is definitely far too early to make an educated guess this early on.

The Wii will easily outsell the Switch lifetime.

The switch will sell 60M lifetime maximum. And even that is very unlikely. My best estimate at this point is 40M lifetime. The way I see it there will be a huge runup to the first 10-15 million units, then a spike when pokemon is released for Switch, followed by lagging sales. My reasoning is simply that while nintendo has a very enthusiastic fan base, it is lacking in the broad appeal that the Wii had.

The only way that could happen is if it has a long life along with a large, excellent library of games. A great price would go a long way as well.

Wii, people arent buying consoles in the same volume as 2006. I think if NS sells 50-60m they should consider it a massive success

Everything can happen, but I'm quite sure that Ninty won't repeat the horrible mistake of not offically, but actually killing early a successful console as it did with Wii, that it started treating as it was obsolete junk too much time before Wii U launch.
This doesn't grant NS to outsell Wii, but it can help it.

The 3DS is the best selling console this generation.

PS4 is going to outsell the 3DS with ease.
