Forums - Microsoft Discussion - What is microsofts obsession with controllers?

Wish Sony offered something similar but yeah, it's just controllers, why not let us design our consoles, that would be awesome.

This is the E3 where Phil Spencer has to deliver the goods, he has had more than enough time to restructure the Xbox division since he took over and show games that should be ripe enough to be revealed.

If it doesn't happen this E3 alongside Scorpio, I dont expect it ever will. His recent interview spells bad news.

My biggest issue with that is that their controllers since the glorious 360 controller have mostly been shit. I use a wireless 360 controller for my rig when I play games like FIFA or MGS, I can't stand their One controller or all the other clunky lumps of plastic they crank out. Just about the only ones I've tried that were worse are the Wii U Gamepad and woeful Steam controller.
Not a fan of DS4 either, to be honest, it's like no one can make a decent controller any more.

What is up with controllers shipped to Germany? XD

At the beginning of the gen, all we heard was:

"Dual Shock 4 is better than Xbox One's controller".
"Xbox One is underpowered"
"Who cares about Kinect!?!"

Apparently, it's haunted their nightmares. Two years from now, there'll be nothing but exclusive games and no third party support. Quote me on that.

Like others had said these controllers are popular and make money for MS, you know, "accessory" a way to make money from the gaming division along with software sales.

Proud to be a Californian.

I really do not understand it. In the beginning it was cool and unique, just like the 360 era. The problem is Microsoft Microsoft is taking this a accessories act too far. On YouTube they dropped like three or four ads (in like an hour)for controllers and not one for an exclusive. Just one... show me cup head or something. They'll show you every color of the rainbow for their controllers. Why are they so tight lipped about their exclusives? I'm starting.to see people on the Xbox magazine page on Facebook and YouTube complaining about this. Multiplats, controllers colors, new military  controller  and Scorpio. Trust me I have an Xbox elite controller that I proudly paid for so I'm not even looking at their design labs stuff even though it might have someone who didn't want to elite upgrade. I'm just slightly worried.

Funniest comment that someone wrote online was:

Xbox fan: so where's the games?

Microsoft:  did somebody say new controllers?

ive also heard around YouTube and Facebook, about people saying "1000 controllers and no games."

its pretty catchy. God help Microsoft this e3 though. Lol what do you guys think?

In my opinion, this is how xbox has always worked. They focus on high margin items, everything else is a waste of time.
