Forums - Microsoft Discussion - What is microsofts obsession with controllers?

If MS ever goes third-party, I hope they continue making accessories as well as games. Imagine Xbox controllers for PlayStation systems. I'd love it. Don't get me wrong. The DS4 is a fine controller. But I still prefer Xbox controllers.

I was thinking the same thing. Their controller quality is probably their best asset that they have at this juncture of the console war. If they ever bowed out they could be the next mad Katz.

They make the best controllers in the world. With a big community on PC which buy them aswell.
How is this a bad thing? How does this affect there games? Two different departments. There devs don't make there controllers incase you didn't know.

So anything about Xbox has to derail to show us exclusives or show nothing...

Even though I understand people want exclusives what's the point of asking trailers of exclusives this close to E3?!?

The publicity of their products. havent you noticed that the last four months have only featured publicity of only three things? Scorpio, controllers and multiplats. Meanwhile Their competition feature multiplats and exclusives in anticipation for release. Also, to be honest.... Sony and Nintendo seem to have wised up to the fact that exclusives sell better at any time before fall. This is why Microsoft shouldn't just wait for e3 for e3. Its better to face off with your exclusives against your direct competitor at a safer time of the year than to launch against the bigger multiplatform favorites in fall which ms is known for doing. Last guardian, dead rising 4 and titanfall 2 (and possibly more games) felt the burn from launching in fourth quarter. Anyway, back to the controllers... yes they do have the best controllers in the world. I hope they make their elite controller bc next gen.

Pretty much, it seems like filler information gimme. E3 is months two months away though. That's two more months of information droughts from Microsoft and you know they'll launch their games at the end  of third quarter and the beginning of fourth quarter as consequence. Last fall was a disaster for the sales of some games. If their games don't launch in third quarter for some of their games, hopefully they do it in first quarter 2018

lol you should have seen SEGA in the 90s. We had a new controller or new way to control the games every week.

lol Nintendo had the third party on lock back then too. Sega had to pump out exclusives out of the wazoo.

When cuphead launches... maybe it'll have its own cup shaped controller that is functional as a cup so you can drink tea while you game!

Realistically I'm not overly pushed about controller colours, I got a plain coloured Switch just because I didn't want it to stand out and not match, but when it comes to something like the DS4 which I don't look at while playing games I really couldn't give a rats if it was pink, not looking at the controller so all the custom colours things for me just completely doesn't do it for me.

That said, I'm guessing there is a fanbase who like to either collect different controllers or who want to make sure all their team uses the same look, there has to be money in it basically since MS are pumping in time and energy into that area so I guess it's like anything which is on the market which I don't like myself... just ignore it and leave it to those who do buy into it.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

They probably make a good money out of these controllers

I really do not understand it. In the beginning it was cool and unique, just like the 360 era. The problem is Microsoft Microsoft is taking this a accessories act too far. On YouTube they dropped like three or four ads (in like an hour)for controllers and not one for an exclusive. Just one... show me cup head or something. They'll show you every color of the rainbow for their controllers. Why are they so tight lipped about their exclusives? I'm starting.to see people on the Xbox magazine page on Facebook and YouTube complaining about this. Multiplats, controllers colors, new military  controller  and Scorpio. Trust me I have an Xbox elite controller that I proudly paid for so I'm not even looking at their design labs stuff even though it might have someone who didn't want to elite upgrade. I'm just slightly worried.

Funniest comment that someone wrote online was:

Xbox fan: so where's the games?

Microsoft:  did somebody say new controllers?

ive also heard around YouTube and Facebook, about people saying "1000 controllers and no games."

its pretty catchy. God help Microsoft this e3 though. Lol what do you guys think?

Oh boy, I'm more curious about Stages obsession with bitching about Xbox.

Out of curiosity, which exclusives Xbox games have you actually played and completed?

supposedly going by Wiki:

Special editions:

2) day one.

3) white controller

4) Armed forces

5) midnight forces

6) covert forces

7) forza motorsport 6

8) ford GT

9) ford motor company

10) Lunar White

11) Copper Shadow

12) Dusk Shadow

13) Xbox One S white

14) Recon Tech

Limited editions:

15) Titan Fall

16) CoD Advanced warfare

17) Halo 5 : Guardians

18) Halo 5 : Guardians - the master chief

19) Pizza hut red controller

20) Elite controller

21) Gears of War (dark red)

22) Gears of War (deep blue)

Then theres the Design lab's thingy.. where you can pick and choose which colours you want your controllers in.

Alot of controllers to collect, if your into that sort of thing.
