They still wanted to meet the pathetic forecast of 3.6m, so they had to make an effort. If I remember correctly, they managed to finish with 3.5m units during that fiscal year.

3.38 million by the end of FY 2015. Immense effort for a laughable pay off.

Are you sure that you looked at the correct fiscal year? 3.38m sounds like the year after Mario Kart 8, the one that had Splatoon.

Regardless, it doesn't make much of a difference. The Wii U was a piece of trash either way.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

Well, MK8 released in May of 2014 so the FY ending should be March 31st, 2015, correct? Unless I've been reading FY all wrong.

I think they just failed at marketing and promoting it.  First the name is terrible.  They could have spent like 1 second of brain power and named it Super Wii and it would have at least sold 20m+.  I'm hoping they can get back to at least Wii levels of software output which you would think be achievable with only one format to focus on with 3DS being an afterthought now.

I think March 31st 2014 to March 31st 2015 would be FY2014.

So, I was right? Though, wouldn't the next FY start the day after the last one ends? Such as this - April 1st 2014 to March 31st 2015.

You know, I've honestly never thought about that You're probably right on that front.

I swear I've seen it used both ways (either representing the year the fiscal year started or the year the fiscal year ended).  Nintendo seems to use the former.  For them, FY 2016 ended March 2017 (so FY 2016 is April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017).
