A lot of the ps1 game cd's were mainly filled with the uncompressed audio track. Wouldn't be too difficult to create small games of 4-32MB size by mp3'ing the audio track. It's all emulated anyway so wouldn't be too difficult. So lets say 4GB of storage could allow 100 plus games easily in theory 30 games could be done in 1 or 2GB or alternatively it could just allow you to play your existing ps1 games you own on psn or perhaps both.

Lots of ps1 games have aged horribly but there are also many 2D and more innovative graphics that would still look fine. Hopefully there will be a built in upscaler and anti-aliasing.

If it were that easy to shrink the PS1 games, why didn't the already do it for the PSN-downloads? They would have saved a lot of money that way (internet traffic, server costs...)

Most of the PS1 games I bought in the PS Store are still 100 - 400 MB big, games like Final Fantasy 7 - 9 over 1 GB due to the prerendered videos:

See, guys, the thing about a PS1 console with digital games... a PSP(Most games) a Vita (most of them, again) and a PS3 (all the games) are available.  If you want to play digital PS1 games, it's there for you.  Get on the store and download those games... Personally, I have over 50.. I think it's 54, or so... maybe more.

I would probably not buy one, because all the games I'd want would be available on PSN, and whatever game I would want, I would have already.

Just buy a PS1 on Ebay and pick up the games there as well. PS1 does not have good nostalgia. Apart from a few huge 3rd party hits, the console was full of a lot of shovel ware and broken games. Trust me I know, I still have my PS1. FF7 has been released multiple times on PC,PS3/PS4, MGS was released on GC and did not sell very well, Crash is coming to PS4 and the only game I can think of that hasn't been released is Spyro (Correct me please if I'm wrong)
Id rather Sony just include the games on there PSNow network or Digital. A PS1 Classic console will not sell especially considering it was mainly a 3rd party machine with very few 1st party games that were actually any good. Steam house a lot of PS1 games and will play them better anyway and at a cheaper cost.

Thats not true, before the PS2, it was the only console to hit over 100 million consoles sol.d

Whats your point? Sales doee not make something a classic. PS1 is too modern. Alot of the games have had re-releases on other platforms. The games themselfs play like any other moden game today. No one is going to scream out to play its games. Nintendo on the other hand have actual industry defining games which gamers want to experience the old fashion way. Playing a PS1 game with a DS1 controller to a DS4 controller is basically the same thing.

Also who wants a system that everyone brought? One of the main reasons why Classic NES sells so well is because not everyone brought one. Alot of gamers missed out on the NES .Its a rare machine. You will be suprised how many PS1s you will find on trade markets and in people's garages. It ruins the nostalgia.

I already have my Playstation Classic. It's called a PS3. I can even buy games for it!

Same thing with the NES mini. I already have most of the games they offered for my Wii, WiiU, and 3DS. That's why, at first, I didn't even want one. Then, I kinda fell in love with having a little version of the console and controller from my childhood. I wasn't even going to use it. Just display it for nostalgia's sake.

I guess there could be some people that feel that way about the PS1. Personally, I like the intro screens when you turn the console on. Still, I don't think I'd buy one. It just doesn't hold that place in my heart. Aside from the original Gameboy (which I still have!), no console does.

Really depends on the games, but if they were able to get the likes of Tomb Raider, Spyro, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Crash etc then there would definitely be a market for it and it would definitely sell.

Course I think they'd be better off releasing PS1 classics on PS4 like they are PS2 ones and maximising PS4 sales instead though.

this.  also I want Spider-Man 2 (ps2) on classics finally damit!

Pretty sure Mega Man Legends 1-2 and The Misadventures Of Tron Bonne is not available on the PSN in europe.

I'd buy it in a heartbeat. PS1 is my favorite console behind the SNES. It'll be really difficult narrowing it down to what games get on the system and how much it should cost. I don't think there'll be a CD Drive though, they'd want to keep costs as low as possible and make the unit as small as possible.

I don't think most PS1 games aged too well. A PS2 classic would be way more feasible. Yes, PS1 was THE RPG machine, but I think the PS2 has a much more well-rounded library that would attract more players.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
