Those early 3D playstation games, most of them anyway, aged like ass. That's the problem. The NES and SNES games have all aged really well and are as fun to play as they were then.

Maybe that's just because NES/SNES games are what you grew up with?

I grew up with PS1/N64 games and while some have definitely aged better than others I think they've definitely aged far better than NES/SNES games. TBH I would have considered NES/SNES games too old and bad looking to play back then, let alone now!

Well theres a reason we get games like Shovel Knight and Mega Man 9 now. They stand the test of time. Very few 3D games of the 5th gen has aged well. Some N64 games have and maybe a few PS1 games.

Eh on the collectors market Nintendo still rules. PS1 demand is never as high as old Nintendo systems like NES,SNES and N64. A lot of people still have a PS3 that plays PS1 games. Plus PSP,Vita,PS3 and PS4. I am sure a few would no doubt buy it but don't think the demand is nearly as high.

It's not just Nintendo games. There are some Genesis games that are expensive as well. It seems the entire 8/16-bit market is really appreciating well.

All games up to 5th gen look quite bad on a modern TVs with huge screens.
They look much better on a small handheld screen.

Therefore I prefer to play PS1 games (and the PSP collections of Classic Atari, Sega and Capcom games) on my Vita and classic Nintendo games as VC on 3DS or Switch.

I think it'd do better in about 5-10 years. It hasn't quite hit that perfect nostalgia age yet for that sort of thing.

I'd love one but I doubt it would happen. With PS4/PS4PRO and PSVR do they want to take money away from supporting them to do a classic? Or take mindshare away from them? Plus it would need heavy 3rd party support to fill out a quality roster of classics. Plus add in the fact most PSone games have aged terrible. Id fight the young and old inside a store to get one but its a long shot.

I know but Nintendo stuff is always in the hieghest demand on the collectors market in general. SEGA and Neo Geo are up there but not as high as Nintendo. Sony however is usually pretty low on the list. 32X right now is more sought after than PS1...not even joking. Go to a retro shop and what cost 10 bucks a couple years ago now cost 50-60 bucks.

Not in Europe. It's not even close in Europe...

Lets not go crazy here. Saying the PS1 is way more iconic in europe is just not true.

How is it not true? The NES was pretty much a non-factor in Europe while the PS1 was the first ever console to be a huge success there. Even now Europe is often referred to as "Sony land" here, and the PS1 was instrumental in that.

It wasnt a non-factor. Sure the PS1 might have sold more, but that doesnt really mean much. I mean the DS sold a shitload in europe as well, but its not really more iconic than the PS1.
